Considering Offsite...recommendations?

Hi DISers!

We have a few trips planned to WDW as of right now and cost-wise I'm thinking that at least one of them needs to be off site. I'm thinking that I'd like my March 2014 to be offsite as we typically go to Spring Training baseball games and have a beach day during our March trip so on-site is not as important.

I've looked into Bonnet Creek (which I guess is quasi-onsite), Windsor Hills, Fiesta Key and some others in private developments. Does anybody have recommendations of places they love or warnings about places they've hated?

I'd like 1 or 2 bedrooms with at least one nice master bedroom, access to a pool and to keep it under $1,000 for the week.

Thanks!

Hello I booked the
Sheraton Vistana Resort for end of May for a week at 599.00. although I can not comment of the room the reviews look great and a 2 bedroom for the price under most nice Hotels Im pretty pumped. also- no tax, parking or resort fees makes this a winner-.

good luck:thumbsup2

In the last two years I have stayed at the following hotels

The Omni
The W Hotel
Sheraton Vistana
Best Western Plus
Radisson on IDrive

We really loved the Omni because of its lazy river pool and I just felt so relaxed there, however they hit you over the head with resort fees and parking fees.

The W hotel was very nice but it had that business feel to it more than a vacation resort. Still it was very nice and I would return.

The Sheraton Vistana was nice, the room was a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen. The property was huge. They try and push their timeshares on their guests. It got annoying to the point where I unplugged the phones. Other than that I would stay there again. We were there in February so we didn't hit the pools.

The Best Western Plus and the Radisson IDrive were ok at best. No real complaints but compared to the others they don't rate. The Best Western was nice because it was about a 20 minute walk to Universal which was convenient because it allowed me to enjoy Margaritaville without worrying about driving. The Radisdon was ok and it's location was its best attribute. It is located near a lot of great restaurants.

Omni is my favorite hotel and I hope to stay there again sometime this summer.

Based on 20+ years of WDW, I would recommend Bonnet Creek or
Vistana. I'm sure there are others but we have several stops at those
two with no problems; and they are close. Marriott's Cypress Harbor is
also nice, but not as close. During that period, we also owned at Old
Key West so we had a good basis for comparison.
By the way, where'd you go to highschool????:offtopic:

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm considering all of the ones that were mentioned as well as one at Little Lake Bryan. I will end up going on price and amenities.

I don't know why I'm so nervous to pull the trigger on staying offsite, but it does feel foreign. I know we'll still have a great time though!

jctwizzer---nice to see a fellow STLer on here! I'm a Nerinx gal through and through!

We stayed at bonnet creek last year and loved it !! We were in tower 4 with a firework view . Totally amazing ! The lazy river was one tower over and we used it every day ! Beautiful resort !
