My sister and her husband are in a horrible financial situation and honestly will probably never have the means to take thier kiddos (age 7 and 9) to Disneyland. My family has AP passes that will expire at the end of January, so we've decided that now is the time to treat them to a trip while our passes are already paid for. They have never even been to an amusement park, much less Disney!

I would LOVE to take them in December, when they can experience the magic of Disney at Christmastime. However, I don't want it to be so crowded that its just a miserable wall to wall people experience and they don't really get to do anything but stand in line. I also don't know if we will get a chance to go in January because of school and work. Its a 7 hour drive so we have to use an entire day there and back for driving.

We're looking at going December 17 and 18. Its the first weekend we can go due to work/school schedules. I was able to snag two rooms at HOJO for the $59 AP rate.

Any thoughts on these dates? Touring plans rates the crowd level these days a 5 and 6. If that is the case, I think it will be manageable. We were just at the park around Vetrans day and it was wall to wall people, so that has me worried.

Any thoughts are welcome!

I don't know the answer I'm sorry but just wanted to say I hope you have fun, its a really great thing you are doing :wizard:

I say go for it! Sounds like this family could use some Disney magic. Use Hydroguy's touring tips, have a blast! Even if there are some crowds the kids will still love it.

Thanks guys.....they really, really could use some Disney Magic! Going to Disneyland would really be a dream come true for the kiddos. I don't think they can even imagine in their little minds that it would ever be a reality for them to go. So sad :(

I'm leaning toward going, but I know DH does NOT want to go again during a wall to wall people timeframe. He realizes it will be busy, of course, but over Vetrans Day we could not maneuver through NOS at all....and it was pretty miserable. Overalll we still had a good trip, but not sure I want to do it all over again with crowds like that in less than a month!

I was there the week of Veteran's day and that Friday things went crazy becuase it was the first day of Christmas. However the other days were fine..

You probably know but the secret is to be 40 min early to the park. You can even open both parks by leaving DL at 9:10-9:15 and getting over to DCA.

As NIKE slogan was for awhile "JUST DO IT". Things will work out. This is an awesome thing you are dong for your family going to a very magical place during a magical month.

Yes it maybe crowed, but think somehow things will work out for you.
Have a great time.
