Considering MAJOR kitchen Renovation, Need suggestions.

I also like your wood ceiling, but totally understand the desire to change. The coffered ceiling and ceiling tins are more great options. I've also seen where ceilings are done in white or cream painted wood, that almost looks like beadboard and it looks great. So many options. I like the cabinet colors you're thinking about too.

I remodeled my kitchen a year ago. All because of a flood, long story. After I did lots of homework about local remodeling companies and after countless trips to Home Depot and Lowe's for ideas, I selected a company to talk further with.

I "bonded" immediately with the woman that became my kitchen designer. She was great and really listened to me. She gave me 2 detailed designs to choose from with price estimates and time schedules. She made so many good suggestions and I can't say enough about what a bonus working with her was to the entire project. I couldn't have designed it myself. I had ideas, but that wasn't enough.

My existing cabinets were oak and in good shape, but I didn't love the color. And I had white tile with white grout counter tops, which were impossible to keep clean. It was a blah kitchen.

I did end up keeping some of my old cabinets which we then had painted to match the new ones. I choose espresso brown and a few barn red for the new ones. No one can tell that we have two different styles of cabinets, they really blend well. We used Juperanga St. Cecelia for the granite counter tops and that really pulls everything together. It's great, I have to touch it to see if I need to wipe it, the crumbs blend so well :) I keep losing my twist ties and rubber bands on it :)

The kitchen has a very warm homey feeling now. Some of my favorite additions are a pull out trash and recycle bin cupboard, lazy-susan's in corner cabinets, a 3 drawer pot and pan unit, some glass front cabinets, a large (tall and deep) cabinet with pull out shelves for all my small appliances and "stuff" with sideways storage for platters and cookie sheets above it and the desk area. I guess I like everything :)

Anyway, good luck with your project, keep us posted! Mary
