We are going in Oct this year for our second Halloweentime trip. However, Christmas is my favorite time of year and would love to experience the magic of Disney at Christmas. Our dates are fairly rigid as DH cannot take holidays Nov/Dec so we have to work with the stat days/weekends. Will it be crazy busy at that time? Also because we are doing a longer trip this year, this would be more casual, soaking up the atmosphere rather than trying to get on all the rides.

For sure busy...Busiest week of the year as proven time and time again. That said, it looks like you have a good attitude about it to just go, try to ride a few rides, and soak up the atmosphere. You should be aware that during that week between Christmas and New Year's, the park has been known to reach capacity, as in no more tickets sold, no more people allowed into the parks. If you go, be conscious of that, get your hands stamped for sure, and be prepared for a possibility that you might have to wait to get into the parks for a while if they get full.

Do you still get turned away if staying at one of the on site hotels?

There are different levels of being turned away... For example first no new tickets sold, then no entry for guests that haven't been in yet, etc., but if the park is at capacity according to the fire marshal, NOBODY gets in, no matter where they stay, whether the are AP holders, whether they have dinner reservations, etc.

We are going on the 24th until the 1st. Yes, the crowds will be crazy but just being there over the holidays will be worth it!!

No, you are not crazy. Just expect large crowds and all will be ok. We are going 12/26/13 to 1/3/14. We have been there before and celebrated Xmas there. It was fun. Enjoy your time. If you see a LGMH with "Minjo" on a back pack, that will be me or my DH.

If you are not going there to hit every single ride, then absolutely go for it! Enjoy the atmosphere and just be aware of what the crowd levels will be like:thumbsup2

Yes, you are crazy! That said, do it! My family went last Christmas, prepared for horrible crowds and ridiculous lines, we found that it was indeed crowded, but most guests seemed to be touched by the holiday spirit, we were often shoulder to shoulder, but people were kind and mostly nice to each other. We all said we would go every Christmas if we could, and my dad's Jewish, so that's saying a lot! Even he enjoyed the entire experience. Go, and have a blast!

Be prepared for the crowds and have a game plan. We go for Christmas and love it. Christmas day and the day after are usually the busiest. The parks usually don't hit the FULL mark til 1:30 or 2:00 but, with carsland open, this may change somewhat. The rest of the holiday time is usually very enjoyable with no crowds. :cool1:

We are there each year from the 22nd to the 3rd. The days leading up to Christmas aren't too bad. Christmas eve will be pretty heavy, and CHristmas Day on will be pretty packed. (Christmas morning can be light, but it starts getting busy by 11am. One year, turnstiles closed by noon... but reopened by about 330.) Vacationers will be arriving starting the 26th, and the Rose Bowl crowd will start arriving the 28th. From then til the 4th or so will be pretty packed.
