Hi! My husband and I are considering buying and looking into options. We were looking on the DVC website, but it is only showing pricing for Rivera and Aulani. Are these the only resorts available? If not, how do we get the pricing of others?

We just purchased AK a couple weeks ago. Guide did ask what the reason was for wanting a particular UY as he "had to take it to his manager to get a waiver" but he got back to us within minutes and we were good to go. 20 minute phone call and points in our account.

I would also do some research on resale. It might or might not be a good option for you. For me personally I would never take advantage of the perks of buying direct… so I opted to save 12k and went with resale. It’s always a good idea to take some time to learn and do research.

I'm also in the DVC market. I called and got my guide. He's be super helpful. We have our hearts set on one resort and even though it's not listed, it's available to purchase. We plan to buy direct (lots of good reasons for us) I highly suggest calling and getting a guide. Very helpful - Good luck

What UY did you want? We wanted October and they wouldn't do it because I wanted the 2020 points too. He said furthest out he could go was June and they wouldn't budge. I ended up putting an offer in on a resale and we are in ROFR now.

Thank you for the suggestion! I have started reading some of the threads on resale to learn more about it.

When was this?? We bought last week and got Oct along with 2020 points. I told him that we planned to mainly travel in Oct/Dec timeframe and it worked perfectly, as we would know if we needed to book points or not and have any summer vacations planned by the end of May.

This was within the last 2 weeks @ OKW

I just added on at OKW this week with a December UY, so well after a June UY. I would ask for another guide.

If my resale gets taken, I'm going to ask again. I should have said they did say up to June or they would let me have December. December would be the absolute worst possible UY for us. We normally travel October. They wouldn't let me have August, September or October.

Same- my guide needed a reason and had to get approval, but he got back to me in less than an hour with an approval.

Well that really stinks then. I wouldn't have even went the resale route if he had gotten approval @ OKW for October UY and let us have the 2020 points. It's a Senior Guide. He told me they wouldn't budge. He did check for us he said.

It is possible that, at the time you were looking, they didn’t have the number points you wanted available with an October UY.

I bought OKW the day before the minimum point change. They gave me Aug UY with 2020 points. But that was matching my UY I already had, so maybe that was the difference? Or more people have been buying before the price increase and they ran out of points?

I had the same response from our guide. He said they were absolutely prohibited from offering a UY until it was already in its 2021 UY unless you already had that UY. He cited the backlog of points from the COVID closure as the reason, not wanting to further contribute to it by giving 2020 points. It sounded reasonable at the time, though I was pretty sure I had read otherwise on here, but I didn’t press him on it too hard. We went resale as well and are waiting on ROFR now. If it doesn’t pass I’ll maybe ask again.
