My best piece of advice echos one above, decide what your location is to be first, this is important. Each resort has strengths and weaknesses. You need to decide upfront what the focus of your stay at WDW is and will be over the next 40+ years. I've now stayed at all the
DVC resorts with the exception of Hiton Head and SSR.
In very brief, most of these can be interpreted as pluses or minuses:
OldKeyWest:
Spacious rooms, low maintainance fees, easy access to DTD, a removed atmosphere from the busy of WDW, complicated bus service.
BoardwalkVillas: Direct access to Epcot and MGM, a large number of restaurants in resort, shared bus runs with other Epcot resorts, can get noisy.
BeachClubVillas: Same as BWV, also direct access to Stormalong Bay, still the best resort waterpark, but sometimes the busiest too, and the somewhat noisy access road behind the resort.
WildernessLodgeVillas: Quick boat access to the Magic Kingdom, the rustic feel and shared theming with Wilderness Lodge, the critters(snakes, bugs mostly) in the adjoining woods, the infamous dumpster view.
Vero Beach: On one of the barrier islands, right on the oceanfront, too far for WDW, a fun rexlaing resort with a lot of nature type enrichment activites.
You really need to think more longer term when making a decision here.
