Can someone please clarify a couple of questions for me.

We never spend a week at Disney, usually a couple of long weekends, etc. However, we do typically cruise once a year. Not sure how I got there, but I found a chart that shows that a 3 night Bahamian cruise is approximately 86 points.

However, there was an asterisk at the bottom that said, "members cannot book travel on Disney Cruise Line within the last 4 months of their use year.”

So does that basically mean that if you have a use year that begins in January you cannot use your points in September, October, November or December?

Cruise points are per person. You cannot book AND travel in the last 4 months of your UY but you can book ahead and travel during that time. Resale points cannot be used for cruising. Buying points to cruise is an extremely poor choice, IMO.

The other important piece to understand about cruising is that the points do not stay the same and can go up every year with no limit to how high they can go.

When you buy DVC, you are really buying the right to stay at your home resort. As long as the resort belongs to the "club", you can trade out to all the other DVC resorts.

However, the perk--and it is a perk--of using DVC points for cruises is not guaranteed and can be changed or taken away from the program at any time.

IMO, if you are buying for the sole purpose of cruising, then DVC may not be the product that you want.

The best value for DVC is to use it for DVC.
