I've never been a member of AAA, so, I'm not familiar with how much a membership would cost here locally, or if it would be worth it.

I saw (on Mousesavers, I believe) that you can sometimes get up to 20% off rack rate at a Value resort in Value season. Can I book with a AAA discount directly thru CRO, or do I have to go thru AAA? If I can call directly, will CRO ask me for any membership info, or can I wait until closer to our trip to purchase a AAA membership?

Any info would be greatly appreciated - thanks!! :teeth:

AAA membership is usually $50 or $60 per year.

For a AAA room-only discount, you can call CRO. The CM may or may not ask you for your AAA membership number, most times they won't.

You will need the membership card when you check into the resort.

If you wanted to do a AAA discounted package, especially with dining, you would need to book directly with AAA.

Thanks for the info - we likely won't need any packages - we are still trying to decide if we'll be renewing our AP's & hoping for a BRP rate. AAA is our back-up plan at this point. Thanks again!! :teeth:

Just wanted to add that if you buy your AAA membership online you save money. For us in NH, it is only $44 and they waive the $14 enrollment fee.

I just booked 7 nites at POR for the end of May at AAA rate. I booked through CRO and was asked for my AAA membership number and expiration date. I am not sure what she would have said if I said I didn't have it yet. My guess is like others have said, present it at check-in. I have an AP also, so we are hoping to get an AP rate down the road. The AAA is also our backup, budgeted for AAA rate hope for an AP rate..

Where exactly do you go on the AAA website to get a quote on a package. I tried to get a quote but I cant seem to navigate the site correctly. Any help would be appreciated. I got a quote from DU but they said to apply the AAA discount I would have to go on the AAA site.

Thanks

I don't know about the value resorts, but I just got phone quotes on a moderate and on a deluxe for July, for 7 nights. I priced them out with our without dining.
For the deluxe I saved 380 dollars. For the moderate I saved 200. Either way your AAA membership is worth the trouble.

Thanks for everyone's input on this - it looks like AAA might be the way to go for now. Still hoping for an AP rate, but I'm not sure those have been easy to come by with the new BRP program. :)

Each regional area of AAA seems to have their own web sites and not all of them have the same information on them. Some, like mine from Northern Mass do not seem to have package rates available online. Others do.
One thing about the AAA card, I have never been asked to show it at check in. This goes for any hotel I have ever stayed at with a AAA discount. No one has ever asked for the card. I always have it, but have never been asked to show it.

If anyones area website does price the package online, Can you post your zip code??

You can't price out packages thru AAA online, only room-only rates. You must call AAA to get a quote on a package.

Thought this may help --

We are traveling from May 13 to May 20 (7nts)

2 adults 2 children 1baby(no charge)
7 day park hopper
Dining Plan
GV Poly

Total Cost $4153.60 (also no trip insurance)

I am thinking that the quote from Disney was around $200 more
