Considering AP for better rates..few questions

So I have a couple of questions as I am trying to see if I would be better off purchasing an annual pass. Me and DH are going to Disney in Oct (dates blacked out for free dining which we were hoping for). I see that AP holders are getting a room only discount. I am going back to Disney in April/May with a friend so the cost of the tickets now and then for me only would pay for my AP. DH is not going again in the next year though. So I have the following questions...

1) Could I buy an annual pass for me. Book us a room at a mod (anyone know what the current room only discount is there?) and just purchase his tickets seperate but still have him stay in the room with me (hope this makes sense).
or
Can I get me an annual pass and book the room and add tickets for him?

2) this is kind of like part 1. Also when I go in April can I book a room if I get an AP discount and then have my friend stay in the room and purchase her tickets separate?

3) I assume there is no way if I purchased DH a AP for her to use it when we go in April but does Disney have anything where you get a pass for a friend or anything like that with it?

And based on the scenario above does this make sense to do?

Yes.

Cheapest place is Undercover Tourist through the Mousesavers Newsletter link. Newsletter is free; sign up at www.mousesavers.com.

Correct - your friend cannot use your DH's AP. There's nothing for passholders to get a discount on park tickets, but they do get discounts on water park tickets and on miniature golf.

And based on the scenario above does this make sense to do?
See responses in red. And yes, it probably makes sense, particularly if you also want the Tables in Wonderland card to save on TS meals and adult beverages.

Discounts are 30% off values and mods, 40% off deluxes and villas.

Awesome thanks. Is there any blackout dates? I am going Oct 11-19?

The only blackout dates are 11/22-25 (Thanksgiving). But that doesn't mean that there will be availability at all resorts in all room categories. There is limited availability even though the dates might not be blacked out. You may need to be flexible.
