Considering adoption - where to begin?

I haven't adopted, but I worked in medical records at a hospital in a college town at one point. I was surprised at the number of adoptions I saw in the year I worked there.

I would suggest calling your ob/gyn and telling them your thoughts. I remember reading something in a chart about our local office and them working with an agency. It's worth a shot. Just call and see if they recommend anyone in the area.

We live in Texas and lots of people adopt here because the laws are friendlier for adoptive parents. Once a birthmother signs there is no grace period etc.

Florida is another state that is very adoptive parent-friendly. My friend here in TN went down to FL to adopt domestically because there was much less risk with the birthmother changing her mind.
