Considering add-on and have some ?'s

This is my 1st time really looking into the add-ons. I've been getting the mailers and emails about the incentives and have been reading stuff here.

My question is what is the current rate for pts at AKL & SS??

Is there a place that lists this?

Also what is the typical or rather required down payment?

Do they offer options with that? When we bought in '01 you could skip the down payment if you opted to wait a time period for using points or something like that.

My DH may be taking a new job and now possibly losing his holiday bonus which we would have used to purchase. Here's hoping for a sign-on bonus

I believe selling price for SSR and AKV is $104.00.
Incentives are:
$8.00 @ point off AKV
$10.00 @ point off SSR

In addition depending on the number of points you buy you will receive developer points.

There is also a Disney Visa promotion going (I think it's to the end of Nov.) that if you put your down payment on your credit card, you will get 500 reward credits.

Right... the developer points are 100 for 110+ add on, 160 for 160+ add on, and 270 for 200+ add on. Developer points must be used within the next year (or traded within a year for an Interval International vacation within the year following).

This makes add-on DVC points competitive with resales at the moment... resales appear to be about $80-$85 per point. $104 minus the $10 incentive is $94. The 270 points are worth approx $10/point if you wanted to rent them, which reduces the "effective" price of the new points to $81 per point.

We have added on several times thru Disney but this time we went with the Timeshare Store. I have been investigating other timeshares and was suprised to find that many of them don't give you the same benefits with resales. Disney does, thus the resale addon. I do know OKW was 92 dollars and VB was 87 with Disney as of 2 weeks ago. I just got the paper work with the price at SSR. The extra points are a very nice option for sales there.
That would lower the over all cost if you rented them.
