Considering a first trip to US/IOA

Hello, DIS-friends - My family is considering a first trip to US/IOA. We have 2 sons, 13 and 10. I was thinking about going during Spring Break, which is the week of March 21-25. Are the Universal parks as packed as the Disney parks typically are the week prior to Easter?

My husband is military, so we'd take advantage of the discounted 3-day park-hopper, and hopefully a military-discount room, as well. If it's going to be very busy, we'd think about springing for one of the resorts that offers the front-of-the-line pass.

I've done some looking on the US website, because I really know almost nothing about it. I've been a Disney girl since birth, and never really had a big interest in US/IOA. The major draw for the boys is the Marvel stuff. We're not into Harry Potter but would go just to see what it's about and to be able to say we've BTDT.

Mostly, I'm curious about how busy it's likely to be.

spring break can be busy.

i only went once during that time period and it had too many people in the parks....lol

i try to spend my time there when it's not a period where school children have breaks from school.

but, there are many posters that do take advantage of when their kids are out of school and never complain about crowd levels.
a lot do it and their vacations turn out fine.

check some of last years trip reports on more details of how families did their vacations during spring break at the darkside.
first hand info is usually more detailed and better than me guessing.

take advantage of the MIL code for discounted rooms onsite.

Well, I called and they're totally booked up on site, so I guess we won't be going over Spring Break.
