We are arriving on the same day (different resort, though). I would definitely stick with your plans. I like the idea of relaxing for an hour or two at your resort area before heading out for a late night at the MK. I think you have the opening of your trip planned to perfection! We did the clam bake in December 08 and it was really good.
 
I'm in the same boat. My DD 11 and I arrive on the 18th of July for a seven night stay. I currently have the QSP and I am trying to convience myself to go ahead and get the regular DP. My problem is that there will be three days we will not be on property. Doing Bush Gardens and US as well. We are roller Coaster Freaks so I would have 3 TS left over. We are also doing Boston Lobster Fest. I like the TS to get out of the heat in the evening but I do not like the fact you have to play around your ADR.
