Last time I was at Disney, anytime I'd get in line (on an ECV) the cast members would direct me to the FastPass line, and having 2 kids with me, that was great. That was December of 2019, pre-COVID. With there not being FastPass, do they still do the same for those disabled? I gotta admit, it made the trip better.

I’m surprised that happened as it is not the norm. The vast majority of queues are ECV accessible, a few may require you to transfer to a manual wheelchair, and a couple may give you a “wheelchair return time” to use an alternate entrance. I would not expect to be directed to the FP queue, and if you are consider it pixie dust.

was this at Disney World or Disneyland. had this happen at Land but not at World

That sounds like a lot of Pixie Dust! Congratulations on being "dusted" so many times on your last trip - but as my friends above indicate, that's not really the norm at all at WDW.

Absolutely. It was very nice, especially with 2 teenage boys.

like other said you got very lucky. I would not think the same will happen the next time. Have a great trip

Magical extra. With the rfid, they could probably just press a button that said hook them up. 😂👍

I have had times where the stand y line was so short they didn't issue a return time and just said go on the ride or sometimes if I was the only one wanting to ride they would just let me go through right away, didn't ask for it, just what they did when I said I wanted a return time for just myself. One other time is right before park closing.

But other than those, even if you have a DAS they will give you a return time.

Using an ECV does not mean you automatically get a DAS. The OP didn't mention DAS. Apparently the CM's allowed him to cut the line because he was using an ECV which is generous but not to be expected.

As others have said, most lines can accommodate an ECV so you will wait with everyone else. With no fast pass available, some are issuing return times to those with assistive devices but no DAS. Yesterday I got return times for Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise. Didn’t need any at Epcot today and don’t anticipate any at the Studios tomorrow.

The only ride I can think of where this recently happened for us is Small World as it has its own wheelchair user entrance.

At the Studios today. Star Tours normally sends ECV’s through fast pass since there are special boarding procedures. Lines this week can be very long and with a standby time of 50 minutes on ST, I asked for a return time. Since it was just me, CM just sent me through. Under the circumstances I certainly didn’t expect it and considered it a bit of pixie dust!

That isn’t the norm. With a few exceptions, all lines are wheelchair accessible thru the regular Mainstream line and most are also ECV accessible.

Usually when this has happened, it’s because the standby wait time is very short. In that case, the wait is usually not going to be that different whichever line the ECV is sent into, but the Fastpass line may be easier to navigate with less turns.

The time of year the OP went (the week after Thanksgiving/first week of December) is also traditionally a slow time, with shorter standby waits. So, that would probably have had the most impact on why the OP was sent where they were.
