Speaking of Olderman, whenever I see him, I think of this muppet because they both have pasted on eyebrows, big mouths, and are easily whipped into a "wet his pants frenzy".:lmao: :rotfl2:

Cute!! I'd rather have hom that the real Olberman. :lmao:

DD, I hope you dont mind if I ask, and if you do, just ignore me, but I'm very curious how old you were when you were diagnosed and what some of the signs were. I have some issues with one of my boys and I'm not the only one that notices them, but we haven't had any diagnoses as of yet, despite lots of labwork and visits to a neurologist. For example:

If he wants to say something, he cannot form a complete sentence without searching for the words. Every other sound out of his mouth is "uh". It can take him over a minute to get out a 6 or 7 word sentence because he has to search for the words to use.

The slightest bit of confrontation of any kind and he cries. He cries nearly every day at school (he's the one that is not home schooled) if his teacher reprimands him in the slightest way. He cries every night when it is time for bed, and he cries everytime he's told to take a shower. He gets in trouble mainly for things he has been told over and over and over again not to do (and he's been punished for the same things repeatedly but they don't seem to have any effect)

He gets good grades, but will NOT follow directions. He gets in trouble for this nearly daily. I can give him a task to do, and he is fully aware of how to do it and is capable of doing it but will still do what he wants...this is an ongoing problem when it comes to writing his spelling words, or putting his clothes in his drawers.

I originally took him to the DR because he walks way up on his tip toes. WAY UP. DH does somewhat as well so I figured it was just a genetic thing, but they actually told me it was usually caused by lack of oxygen to the brain at some point, likely during the birth process. He did have a collapsed lung at birth, and his birth mother smoked throughout his entire pregnancy. He now wears APO braces on both legs, and has for over a year now, and went through 3 months of serial casting prior to those, but the second he takes them off he's right back up on his tip toes.

Considering he is 6 1/2 years old, I think that there is something not quite right, but DH refuses to even consider the possibility, and thinks I'm reading more into things. He did go through alot of upheaval for the first 3 years of his life so that might attribute to some of it, but he's just not anywhere near where a kid his age should be on an emotional scale. His mom dumped him with relatives when he was just under a year old, and DH had to fight his former in-laws in court for nearly 2 years to get him back (she dumped him while DH was deployed and he didn't find out until he came back)

While it is frustrating to deal with, he's a very loving boy and not a "bad" kid by any means, but I really fear as he continues in school that he will turn into the kid that becomes the target for bullies because he's so sensitive emotionally.

Do any of these things sound like warning signs of possible autism to you?

I'm sure you meant this for DD, but my son was 5 when he was dx. However, when looking back - it was soooo obvious but he was our first so we had no clue.

If anywhere on the spectrum, he sounds more Aspie to me. But I am by no means an expert in that area. The three points that stand out to me are:

-the processing difficulty
-the anxiety
-believe it or not, the walking on tiptoe ::yes::

I'd like to hear what DD thinks, but this is what stands out to me. It's actually good that he's mainstreamed, because when you do the testing - the teacher has her own test to complete, so there's more input. I'll pray for y'all.

I always knew something wasn't "right", so when we got the dx, it was actually a relief - a shock, but a relief at the sametime. There was a grieving period, but you get past that eventually. The good news is that with a dx, there are a lot of services that become open to you/him.

Good luck with any future testing and lots of hugs!

DD - you are an inspiration, and I'm so glad that you're open about it. It means soooo much to folks like me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

ETA: JB, if it's Aspergers, then it's good that you're catching it this early. Some aren't dx'd until they're older.

In all fairness, I kinda was kinda eggin' them on in those threads.......pretty simple to do.....apparently, all you have to do is...

hehe... I noticed. :teeth:

if he meant it, the first part was sweet. the rest not necessary.

the letters other presidents have written to their children were much more personal messages. i didn't care for the parts which sounded like a campaign speech, but the first part is cute and i hope his little girls enjoy it.

Sadly, I don’t think that the man knows how to speak except for rhetoric. He’s been campaigning for his next position up in order to reach the POTUS for so long, making promise after promise that he knows he doesn’t mean but has to be able to convincingly sell it, that I don’t know that he even knows how to speak without sounding as if he were on the campaign trail.

This poll is for the CONSERVATIVES only, no lurking libs please.

Who is planning on watching the inauguration?

That would be a BIG no. But to be fair, I probably wouldn't watch it even if it was the person that I voted for.

But, seriously, can I tell you how glad I am that I don't live in DC? Millions of people are taking vacation next week to go to DC. If I lived there, I'd be taking vacation to get away from DC.

I agree that Palin should go into the Senate, that'd be a smart move.

But seriously, Hilary?? She's my Senator. I could never ever ever ever!!! vote for her.

Probably. He was running on the platform that had issues that I backed; such as his stance on abortion; but I think that they are too close b/c McCain is a bit left on several things and I think that I was willing to give her more of a chance than I would have him. He's done a couple of slimey things post election that has just made me shake my head. (But he's still better than Obama...he's the King of Slime)

Don't know. I voted for her in the primaries. I don't regret that decision. However, I do admit that I knew -or understood- nothing about politics when I first joined the political threads. I just wanted "change" from what we currently had.

I've really figured out who I am and what I believe this election; I really am a fiscal and social conservative. I never had any desire to join the liberal thread back then (I just stayed on the Hillary thread) but I didn't have the same trepidation in joining this thread when Hillary lost the primaries - I feel that I fit over here and never would have fit in over on the lib thread.

There were some really good moderate Dem's on the Hillary thread that I liked and respected and miss- although many of them hate me now as I couldn’t take seeing them eat up the lies about Palin. I knew she was too far right for them, I understood that, but they just witnessed how much the media and the Obama campaign lied about and vilified Hillary in order to help Obama win the electionn and they were spouting off the left’s talking points about Palin. It doesn’t truly bother me to listen to the OS go off about Palin – although I will defend her – but it did bother me to read posts from people that I considered friends during the primaries eat up those lies and spew the hate about her. I kind of went off and I guess that I have to claim responsibility for killing the Hillary Support thread.

Totally agree with this one.:)

Wonder, got your PM- why is it that everything you post always has this underlying bit of humor that makes me just fall out :lmao: ?? Seriously. You always make me laugh.:goodvibes

life's too short to take everything seriously.

hey. have i mentioned how clumsy michelle obama looks to me? i was just wondering, 'cause i think she is really awkward in a gawky sort of way. kind of heavy-handed and ungainly.

wasn't certain if i had mentioned the clumsy, awkward, gawky, heavy-handed, and ungainly way she seems to carry herself, so i thought i'd mention it now.

it is very nice that she is sending those cute little gals to ballet class. they will learn about graceful movement and will never seem as clumsy, awkward, gawky, heavy-handed, and ungainly as their mother.

She actually seems fairly graceful to me (until she opens her mouth...) I do like the way she dresses.

I think I have a lot of animosity for Hilary because my liberal feminist friends kept sending me propaganda that I should vote for her because I was a woman and she was a woman and how could I not vote for her because hellooooo??? we need to bond as women. And of course my response was, "I don't agree hardly anything she stands for. It insults my inteligence to vote for someone based on gender or race alone." Then when Palin was announced as the running mate, they all were up in arms. And it just infuriated me that they were so hypocritical. So I'll admit, perhaps the animosity towards Hilary is a little misplaced. I mean, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't vote for her, but maybe I should tone it down a bit ;)

Oh my gosh, you're gonna make me cry.

I already gave my opinion to JB on the last page, and I don't think it's Asperger's, but like I said, I only have limited experience in the subject. A combination of autism and a hard upbringing could be causing the symptoms, but that's for a psychologist to decide. The autistic person I know the most is myself, but everyone has had different experiences. :confused3

I hope my opinion helps.

She actually seems fairly graceful to me (until she opens her mouth...) I do like the way she dresses.

she and caroline um ya know kennedy both walk slightly bent forwards with their feet fairly far apart. ick. i will say this, bho has excellent posture.

II might have already said this, but my problem with the left is how they say Bush is a monstrous liar, but in the same breath, they say he's an idiot. He's either one or the other, people! If he is really as much of a conniving person as you say he is, then he would need to be extremely smart! Good grief.

I think my least favorite thing about Bush is that he talks about America being the shining hope of the world, or something like that. That offends me as a Christian. America is a great country, but I wouldn't say it's shining. Christ is the hope of the world, not America. I know this could be considered heresy here, but that's how I feel.
I agree. I don't know how he can be this Super Evil Genius and yet in the next breath he's the Quintessential Backwoods Gun Clinging Religious Right Wing Nut.
As for America being the hope of the world, I think he can't say that Jesus is (even though he believes it) because he'd be vilified and yelled at more. They'd scream Freedom of Religion.

Not to mention she isn't beauty queen material, but what I find more off-putting is her nasty attitude. You'd think the wife of the Obamessiah would be nicer, huh? :rolleyes1
I don't agree with anything HRC stands for so I wouldn't vote for her. I feel bad for the way she was treated during the election, though.
I wonder why she'd take the SOS position from a man who treated her so contemptuously?

Hey, look what I found!

I'm going to have to read back and see who the ASD stuff was originally for, but have you had the kid's hormones tested? I have a pituitary tumor and when it starts to produce hormones, I have both these things to the Nth degree. I can barely spit sentences out. My moods are a serious liability. My tumor produces excess ACTH. PM me if you want more info! I'm more than happy to share. I also have some of the other problems previously mentioned, but I have never received an ASD diagnosis. I believe it is all related to my tumor. I do carry a diagnosis of ADD though, it remains to be seen if that will carry on after surgical removal.

Back at the beginning of the primaries, just as I was beginning to pay attention and really didn't know anything about Obama yet, I saw a photo of the family in someone's sig. It was a really nice pic and I thought them to be a beautiful family. I did find Obama handsome and Michelle pretty and I thought the two kids adorable.

But now, I see the real Obama and Michelle and they aren't very pretty on the inside. That's what I see when I look at them now, I no longer find them attractive. Your personality does a lot to influence another person’s opinion of your looks. The kids are still adorable, but I know that they are growing up learning their mother’s hate and I find that to be very sad.

I just have to say it. I think she is a moose of a woman. Every time I see her walking, she reminds me of Herman Munster in drag!

My apologies to the moose of the world.:snooty:

I agree with that, but he can use different wording when he talks about America. He could say "a great hope in this world" or "the greatest example of a republic". He doesn't have to use such exclusive language in his description of America, along with his proclamations that pretty much say that God likes us best.

Yes, I know this is slight heresy. I'm a conservative all the way, but my citizenship in heaven is more important than my US citizenship.

I still love you guys. :goodvibes

Now that you mention it....:rotfl:

She's just not attractive at all- inside or out. I hate those little girls are being brought up by a woman like her. Their father isn't much better with his arrogance.:sad2:

Whew....back.....

just laid DS2 down for bed.....but before he went down, we were watching Imagination Movers and......

(side rant, usually I like Playhouse Disney shows.....but this show gets under my skin......I wish I was in the room when they pitched the idea to Disney Brass........"Ok, dude.....we're like a buncha slacker stoner hackey-sack types who live in a warehouse with an old rat and jam our music and have ideas and whatnot you know"........)

anyhoo,

DS2 likes their music a lot and he always dances up a storm......the problem is, he dances like Axel Rose.....that whole hip swiveling snakey leg dance type thing.....

Is this a harbinger of things to come?

"Welcome, welcome to the Jungle......sha-na-na-na-na-na-na-nee-nee-nee....."

Guess I better accelerate the piano lesson timetable......

Hey, Honu!! How ya been?!

Hey there! I'm hanging in there. Been trying to fight through some stuff. In a mad frenzy testing phase to try and prove my Cushing's Disease so I can have my surgery on March 25th in Houston.

How are you doing? Have you floated away yet?
