It may be a good thing, though that she contacted you. And I understand where you're coming from.
I haven't seen my father since we got married. And he has no clue that he has grandchildren. :sad2: I don't get it.

I'm going to email tomorrow morning or evening. (before or after hockey. LOL) (must laugh... keeps me from choking.)

Hey guys. I wanted to stop in to the “new” home (nothing stays new for long with this crowd ;)) and say hi. I guess that it’s been about a month since I last posted or really paid any attention to the news or politics and I can tell you that it’s been nice. I returned last night from 11 days at Disney and am fully rested from a much needed break. I was staying at a deluxe resort and they put the newspaper outside of your door each morning. Can I tell you how much I don’t want to read the paper each morning while I’m on vacation? It’s too depressing. It was all that I could do to not kick the thing as I left my room every morning. So, here I am. I have no idea what is going on in this world, and I’m not certain that I much care, but I'm still here so I guess that no one has yet to blow it up and WWIII hasn’t commenced yet…. or has it?

You manage that car thing quite well and you're a hockey fan. We'll keep you! :) Have you guys *ward, hill, mm* watched the Big Boy commercial on TV where they mention "Its a Michigan thing" and hockey is mentioned about four times? It always cracks me up.

Geez, I'm going to have to pay closer attention to commericials, I haven't seen that one yet.

Oh, yeah. I've seen it. A hundred times. Thinking about it makes me hungry for a Slim Jim. Mmmmmmmmmm.
Oh my gosh, I want one of those right now. Right now. That's my favorite sandwich at Big Boy. Love that thing.
... and hockey

I've had out of state friends ask why we "as a state" aren't more embarrassed by the Lions. WHY? We have the Wings. We have tons of minor league hockey, we have college hockey, we have jr hockey. There are hundreds of youth hockey games played every night. What Lions?:rotfl:
Nobody cares about the Lions other than the teams that play the Lions. Who wants to lose to a team with a record like that?

Yay! Dolce is back. Which deluxe did you stay in again? As for the news, Israel is bombing Gaza strip, and Obama is pretty much Clinton 2. That's about it.

Well, guess I'm not missing too much.. huh?

I was at the Boardwalk Inn. Loved it. I had a boardwalk view; I was above the Yard Arcade, just to the right of the ESPN club. I'm moving in as soon as I can convince Disney to let me live there for a reasonable monthly rent.

Geez, you sound like 52.9% of America that voted this past November. ;)

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :rotfl: It was nice to get away from politics when we were in WDW early in Dec too, I know exactly what you mean.

WOO HOOOO! You did get your "right on the boardwalk" room! I'm glad you had a wonderful trip!

I'm still trying to figure out how to get a room at AKL by having my children and myself be part time characters. So far I can't get the plan to work!

YOU'RE BACK!!!!! How was your trip?:goodvibes

Ok, guys.... I was working on a TR update but I'm sorry, I have GOT to go to bed! I've been up since 6am and worked today, so I am worn out! Just be watching tomorrow for another installment... ;)

:grouphug:

Just heard from my mother after not hearing from her for quite a few years. Yes, I said years. She lives in Sarasota. She wanted to make me hopeful the auto industry would be back on its feet due to Obama taking over. Yeah, because he did so much for them already. *choking on diet coke* I'm working on composing my email back. I think I'll leave the politics out... and probably the "You have no idea who I am and you wouldn't recognize your own grandchildren" out, too.:flower3:

Deep breathing. She did like the Mackinac Island fudge I sent for Christmas!

I don't wish this kinda stuff on anyone. I'm so sorry to read about what y'all have dealt with. I'm closest to my mom, but also close to my dad. I don't have anything to do with an entire side of the family though. They're so jealous and petty, that I don't even acknowledge them as my family. They get left out of invitations, I haven't seen most of them in almost a decade, etc. It's a shame things aren't different, but I decided at a young age I wouldn't allow them to put me through what they put my other family members through.

Glad you had a great trip, Dolce! I'm the same way about the papers at WL. I just save them and then read through them after I get back home. I'll check the news briefly once a night, but otherwise, unless it's something really important, I don't want to know about it in WDW. Period.

Fun day today!

My daughter sings with the Alaska Children's Choir, and they were asked to sing for the Alaska State Stamp Ceremony, and Governor Sarah Palin spoke. Afterwards, my kids got to meet her. It was great fun...worth getting up in the -38 temperatures...:goodvibes

I know. I just want to be a chipmunk but the pay is in acorns. The rooms at the Boardwalk, where I'm moving to :teeth:, cost a lot more than that.

YOU'RE BACK!!!!! How was your trip?:goodvibes

Wonderful. And yours? EPCOT on Christmas Day wasn't too bad; at least I didn't think so. Did you guys stick around for Illuminations? I watched from the Italy pavilion.

Totally, absolutely AWESOME! What an opportunity!

The first time I took my son to AKL/con we were out on the balcony one night deciding who would be "Chuck" and who would be "Dave". Any long time dissers will remember those names!

Yeah, I know what you mean about long lost family members - I've never met my father's side of the family [or heck, even my father!] and am currently not talking to my mother's side of the family. Sadly, enough, - at least for right now - I believe things are better that way. It is sad that your children haven't gotten to know their grandmother but, then again, this lack of contact has probably saved them lots of heartache. At least you've got us, motley crew that we are!

woo-hoo - Dolce's back!!!!!! I was a little worried that Mickey might have kidnapped you!!!!!

And, Dolce, you're right about trip-planning being good therapy - I've been doing that now that my trip is closer and haven't been paying attention as much to the news as before. A nice feeling that is... But, I'm glad you're back - and can't wait to read your trip report!!!!!

Cool pictures! Nice to see SP as Governor again, pre-VP nomination. And are those stamps going to be regular postage stamps? If so, I want a bunch!

Is the cold snap ever going to end for y'all?

... and hockey

I've had out of state friends ask why we "as a state" aren't more embarrassed by the Lions. WHY? We have the Wings. We have tons of minor league hockey, we have college hockey, we have jr hockey. There are hundreds of youth hockey games played every night. What Lions?:rotfl:

I always say it's because we're so used to it. The Lions have always sucked. It's just a fact of Detroit life.

Hi everyone HAPPY NEW YEAR...IMMMMMMMMM BAAAAAAAAACK:goodvibes I have been on the DIS from time to time for a short stop. And its time to re join my Republican friends :thumbsup2

I took a look see over at the Liberal thread...why I did that i dont know. Guess I thought maybe ...just maybe they have come back to earth a little bit....well I started laughing when I saw that almost all of them have the same new siggy and it is of Obama with his shirt off :scared1: guess it was of the one from Hawaii....the love fest picture. :rotfl2: I read a few pages or so and they are still all mushy over him. I bet they would give there first new born to him if he asked.popcorn::

They are acting like the world is going to be filled with rainbows and buttercups the moment he is inaugurated. That all that is wrong will be corrected and we will be at peace in the World....and the middle east will finally all leave us alone.

I hope for our Country there dreams are correct....but if not they will be in for a rude awakening. I hope he proves us all wrong in this thread and the US becomes back on the track forward. Guess we will have to see. So far for me I have been happy with his picks.

anyway....have the OS been in here at all stirring the pot or are they staying on there own playing field?

Oh my gosh, I want one of those right now. Right now. That's my favorite sandwich at Big Boy. Love that thing.
.

Right after I posted that I made a lil call to Big Boy and ten minutes later I was eating my Slim Jim. Oh, yum! Carryout rocks.

It's my favorite Big Boy sandwich, too. I never order anything else.

Blestmom, if it weren't for the -38 degrees, I'd be totally jealous of you and your family. Sarah looks lovely, as usual. Meeting her must have been such a thrill!

Hey Robin!

The OS are the same - we'll go for days without hearing from anyone then *poof* there they are! Some stir the pot, some are nice - or so we think?!?!? I never know.

I saw this on another thread - I thought it might be a nice treat for any military families....
