Happy New Year, DisCons! While anticipating next week's trip to WDW, I am mulling over some new directions I hope to take in the new year. I dislike "resolutions" because they seem so easily broken. So I'll settle for some new directions in life. For 2009 and beyond I plan to...

1) Be more conscientious about monitoring my blood sugar levels
2) Increase my weekly workout time by 30%
3) Reduce my daily calorie intake by 15%
4) Pray more -specifically asking God for help with patience and perspective
5) Plan something grand and extravagantly romantic for DW

Zip I give you two :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 for those "new directions," as you say.

You are welcome.

Anything to help out a fellow GB fan get their fix!

:rotfl2:
:woohoo: :thumbsup2  Which in turn means Monday night I can listen when he comes back on air!!!!! Since no stations close to me carry his show (the ones I get down at school do, but I am not at school yet).:sad1:

I enjoy your homage to Fred Sanford. We honor Fred every year with a New Year "Champipple" Toast. Of course, we substitute sparkling wine for the champagne and, sadly, Ripple is no longer produced so we are left with a concoction that is far from Fred's invention. Good times.

:goodvibes I tend to switch my avatar around every so often to display another of my pop culture affinities. I grew up watching Fred Sanford battle Aunt Esther.

We just got home, went to Barnes & Noble, and when we got out to the car to leave, there was frost all over the car, and I'd say, prob about 32 degrees out. Of course, my DH was whining about how cold it is, and how we could have still been living in central Florida, except that I missed the kids and made him move back. He doesn't miss an opportunity to tell me this, LOL. Anyway, blestmom, I told him what it is going down to in Alaska tonight, and he asked me to ask you how it is even possible to live there.:)

It is possible, but when it gets this cold it really is a challenge. We have pretty much stayed huddled in the house. We haven't had this long of a really cold spell for awhile. You leave your car plugged in, or running, even when you go to the store. But really, if you don't have to go out, you don't. That's about it. I am wearing my Ugg boots all day inside, and the kids are all huddled under blankets watching t.v.

Yoo hoo...Debbieandroo! We used your pizza recipe tonight (we used whole wheat...)

Deb.... why didn't you save us some?:goodvibes That looks delicious!!!

TR is updated, for anyone who's interested. I have to go on to bed now.... work tomorrow, yayyy....

G'night cons!:grouphug:

This is getting ridiculous...it is supposed to get down to -44 tonight...:sad1:

Okay, I guess I won't complain that it is 28* here. :lmao: At least it isn't negative digits.

OMG speaking of negative digits, get this you guys. I am walking through the store with my kids and my son (who loves to play verbal math games while walking around the store...) says "Mom, what is 2 minus 12?" So I'm thinking Kindergarten math here----he's only five years old after all---and I say "You can't subtract 12 from 2, Shaun." He says "Yes you can! It is negative 10!" Seriously? In KINDERGARTEN?! No, they aren't learning negative numbers in school, apparently he learned it from his nine year old sister. But I'm still impressed that he can do it.

I give credit where credit is due. Thank you! :thumbsup2

Thank you - that was very kind of you to post. :goodvibes [P.S. your 18 days pre-Obama is funny, too]

All of your babies are beautiful, both human and canine. :goodvibes

I totally agree - what a beautiful family! But, Teresa, couldn't your daughter at least have had an awkward stage?!??! She's been gorgeous her whole life! And I can't imagine dressing any of my dogs for Halloween - it would probably be the very last thing I would do.

I've been MIA so loooong....I won't even try and catch up! I see some things never change. Somebody forgot to close the pet door again!;) .....and as far as doing the same thing over and over.....and getting the same results. There is a word for that..isn't there?

Howdy stranger - come on and set a spell...we missed you. I hope you had a fabulous holiday....

Kind of like a buttery shortbread cookie, with a gooey raspberry or apricot filling, sprinkled with powder sugar. :cloud9:

ahh, gorgeous! Yes, I've eaten many of those in my life without even realizing that this is what they are - yummmm.....

I returned that mixer - and the new one works amazing! :thumbsup2 I also lurked here earlier and saw your recipe and quickly got off and made that pizza dough. OMG- that recipe is:

TREMENDOUS!!!!

Thank you!!!! :worship: It is a great recipe! I need to find the cinnamon bread recipe next. I'm nutty now with baking. I had to stop at the store and buy more flour. :rotfl:

I also bought a pizza pan today, it's so great, it crisped up the pizza perfectly. And, next time we'll have to roll it out thinner. DH insisted in rolling out the dough. ;) Then he wanted to 'spin it' like a pizza guy would. I was worried he was going to drop it. Nothing like pizza with an extra topping of dog hair. :scared:

I'm going to try and make a margarita pie tomorrow. They are my fav.:lovestruc

Thank you - I confess - I got the recipe when I went to a pizza cooking class. The teacher gave us the school's recipe but then told us hers - I tried both at home and have been using hers ever since. So easy and good, even if it's not rolled thinly. I know what you mean about the dog hair - no 5 second rule in my house, that's for sure.

When you talk about a margarita pie, are you talking about tomatoes, basil, and cheese? If so, that's one of my favorites, too. I also love goat cheese, sautéed onions and mushrooms with no tomato sauce. Even though I am quite the carnivore, I like my pizzas on the veggie side.

And I love your blinged out pug pic, too - cute!

ugh....

Found this list for you. Looks like a lot of stations broadcast him at night.

http://streamingradioguide.com/radio-show.php?show=212

I don't know how accurate this list is, but you should be able to find a couple of stations to listen to him after work.

:cool1:

Thanks! And hot-diggity - GB can be heard in Memphis, too! Woo-hoo!!!! I confess, I am a Rush baby at heart but Glenn is pretty darn awesome, too.

What a great way to say that - direction. Thanks! Resolutions to me are the same as diets - when I resolve NOT to do something, I immediately do it...but this is more of a gentle reminder of goals I wish to attain. Maybe my direction would be to do those things I've listed in my many to do lists.

wow...you're good. i'm just hoping to get up with the alarm clock more regularly this year.

Actually, that is no small feat - if I did that, the entire day would start out more smoothly. In your case, Wonderlanne, it must be a dreadful thing to wake up to your LLLLLLLOOOOOONNNNNNNNGGGGGGG commute...just thinking that I don't have to deal with that every day should be enough to make me pop out of bed, doncha think?

It is possible, but when it gets this cold it really is a challenge. We have pretty much stayed huddled in the house. We haven't had this long of a really cold spell for awhile. I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like. What do you do with your car when you're at home? There's no heater in the world strong enough to make your house anything less than freezing...brrrrrr....

Can't Sarah do something about this????

Yoo hoo...Debbieandroo! We used your pizza recipe tonight (we used whole wheat...)

Yummmmm...that looks delicious! Was that dough enough for all of the boys? Did the rest of your family get some? What were your toppings? I've never tried it with wheat flour - I might work on that next time.

That IS impressive....he must take after his snow-packin' pioneer mama!

It's 31 here. If it rains like it always does it'll snow. We woke up to a very light dusting this morning but it had melted by noon.

DH, me, our friend...all mentioned today how we hate this house. It's made of brick and glass...I'll put it this way. Our gas bill was $700 for one month and we keep the heat at 60! :scared1:
I think we'd move but everyone wants a 1 year lease and we don't want to be here for that amount of time.

Don't. Say. Snow. I've had it. I'm DONE. It's 31* right now. I'm not even looking outside. My kids are going to school on Monday, come h*ll or high water. Or snow. Seriously. They are driving me bat snot.

We have been so lucky this year so far, and last, knock on wood. I don't think we had any real accumulation last year, and none this year so far. We are in a strange pocket, only 30 minutes east of Philly, yet close enough to the ocean to rarely get snow, even though those slightly to the north and northwest get hit much more often.

While I love how snow looks, I hate driving in it, although I must admit, I rarely have to drive myself anywhere. My hubby on the other hand drives alot for his job, so I always worry when there is bad weather.

Mahnah, it's right below the Glenn Beck shrine in my signature.:thumbsup2 I just updated it with a post about Christmas morning at DHS sans my mom and brother. :scared: Just read it. You'll see.

For some reason - your sig is cut off at the second line :confused3 Maybe it's my computer. Can you post the link for me? :goodvibes

LOL- we're all making pizza now. ;)

Yes- it's more of real tomatoes rather than sauce, fresh mozz, and sprigs of basil. :lovestruc I like to add bacon as well, just for the extra artery clogging. :thumbsup2

Tink I know how you feel. We are paying over $3 a gal for propane here. We just had a fill :scared: . You should call your gas company, here they will come in your house and do a walk through of stuff you can do to save energy. They did it for a FM of ours. One of the things they did was insulate her windows with something, maybe it was caulk. She said she saw a big difference in her bill. Oh - and they did it for FREE!

Charade - is that a retirement statement? :sad2: Are these high risk stocks? They scare me now.

A few months ago, my BIL tried to talk us into buying Sirius/XM stock, he bought it for $ .75, now it's at $ .12  . I don't know much about stocks, but my DH thinks we should buy a couple of shares now. It's scary out there, and I don't know what's a good idea and what's not. Tough to tell.
