Conservative thread: We're still smiling!

I'm glad I went to the grocery store today. I bought everything I need to do Christmas dinner here. THe way it looks, it will be here with only us in attendance! Unless its totally horrible, we'll go to my father's as planned after DH gets off of work tomorrow. Half the family that was going to be at his father's probably won't be making the trip due to weather.

But, one reason some of your wonderful traditions might have gotten undone is that there were fewer days between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year - like less than four weeks - as opposed to other years when there are five weeks between the holidays...

Apologies if I made anyone sad about the Alaskan Christmas card -- I'm not a hunter either and am citified enough to pretend that the beef I love comes from Kroger [or Schnuck's if I can get it cheaper] - but Santa with the rifle made me chuckle, that the fact that it was the official Christmas card of that organization...

Some are listed as registered Republicans which means as much as me being listed as a registered Democrat [since I voted in our most recent Dem primary] but, anywho, it's an interesting list...

i (sniff sniff) knew (sniff) what you meant..., but i still think he's for REAL! i just saw a picture of him on a hunting trip with sara palin!!!

I'm glad you asked, because I don't have to do a doggone thing tomorrow. Our tradition is that we bake cookies on Christmas Eve, so we'll do that tomorrow morning. Me and DS9 bake snickerdoodles while DW and DD11 make peanut butter cookies w/ a Hershey's Kiss. Then we'll pop in and spread a little Christmas cheer to some friends. Church tomorow night... Lord knows I dearly love singing Silent Night by candlelight. After church we'll watch "A Christmas Story", then the kiddos head off to bed.

i will rescue any animal, anywhere, and likely would have jumped in front of those wolves, and told that santa imposter to get lost. ummm...ya know...if it were real.

michelle67, i should have mentioned something about those nuts (not the liberals...the sugared pecans). the recipe works best one batch at a time. i have been tempted in past to do two batches in one jelly roll pan, but they just don't come out chewy enough that way.

It is pretty much impossible to sleep in a moving vehicle. We stopped at a Books-A-Million and I bought a booklight so I've been reading Glenn's book The Real America, but that might explain why I can't sleep. We're in Tallahassee.

couldn't believe the non-stop rain. we get lots of wind around here too, but didn't have it this last storm...and my yard didn't flood. nor did the water freeze when it was 28* last week! the wind is what ereally bugs me 'cause i have to check my baby trees and toss the neighbors' belongings back over the fence for them.
