Thanks. :thumbsup2 Glenn had me :rotfl2: throughout the video.

Thanks for posting that. It is funny how Glenn lays it out step by step on how the Libs twist something to fit their view of things and help them justify their hate. I'm sure there is a Liberal somewhere sticking pins in a little Glenn Beck doll hoping to cause him harm.

Ok, now that totally cracked me up....:lmao:

There's a whole line of voodoo dolls, you can pick from a list of conservatives or liberals. :lmao: G

FTR, there is an Obama doll and it has his middle name on it.:rotfl:

Even though I'm Humphrey Bear, Chip and Dale are my all time favorites. I'm pretty sure I got it just searching for Chip and Dale Christmas images on Google. It is from Pluto's Christmas Tree and is on of my favorites. Please help yourself to it from my sig!

:thumbsup2

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Sorrry, just saw Ted on Meet the Press this morning and was reminded of how very LIBERAL he is. I really thought conservatives were pretty true to their group in who they supported, where they spent their money and time. Lots of people don't know about Ted because he's rich and they assume he's conservative.

I sort of figured that out when he married Jane Fonda, and then gave her a bazillion dollars to donate to the UN.
He's also bipolar. Ted was ultra conservative at one time. When he swings from the depressive side back to the happy side, he'll probably become a conservative again.

Yes, because one of them accidentally PM'ed me once.:lmao: It was the most hysterical thing ever!!:rotfl2:

I figured they PM'd A LOT because when I'd peek in on their threads, it was all happy happy joy joy-so unlike the OS. Vitriol is best expressed where the mods can't see it. Kind of chicken though, don't you think?

You sure had that link awfully quick! Have you been a customer in the past? :rotfl2:

So were you the one that bought that Ann Coulter doll?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Not me, I like Coulter. :lmao:

Check out the Ted Kennedy one. I think it took 3x the filler to put in his head. :rotfl2:

Well may I help myself to your pic of GB advertising The Christmas Sweater?:goodvibes Please?

Hey Soarin!

You're kidding me! My dad's a reenactor too (in his spare time)! From what I remember, some of the members of his Company were in both Gettysburg and Gods & Generals. :goodvibes

my FIL is a reenactor for the civil war, and was one of the historical consultants for Gettysburg. He's in the movie for about 1.5 seconds:rotfl: He has some neat stuff he was given when the movie wrapped.

Part of movie magic is believing a person has assumed a character. When an actor gets all in our faces with their politics I can no longer see them in movies and believe their performances. All I see are their politics. Thats why I like actors like Tom Hanks. He may be a flaming liberal but I don't see him on the news every other week protesting whatever is the crisis du jour. I can't watch Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin or Susan Sarandon in anything anymore. Ruins the whole movie for me...how did Stephen and Alec come from the same family??? Stephen has at least, seen the light. When I met him at Celebrate Freedom a couple of years ago he was such a friendly and personable guy. Christianity can really make a guy change...he said he prays for his brother daily...

Thank you to everyone saying prayers for my DFIL.

To all my DIS friends:

disney-thanksgiving-01.jpg

I'm still praying for you DFIL. And that picture is adorable! :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Please remember to keep the troops in your prayers tonight that they may return safely to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families next year.:)
Indeed. :thumbsup2

(new to this thread....don't mean to intrude!)

SEVENTEEN!!!
I had 6 and was in panic mode!!!

Hope you all had a great day!!
The most we've ever had was 11, and that was loud enough for me (mostly we have a very chatty family). One of my mom's sides of the family is huge though, and she'll talk different times about when they'd go to someone's house around Thanksgiving or Christmas and there'd be a house full of people there. I think she has around 30 (first) cousins on that side of her family alone.

Good afternoon friends
Busy at work today with guests and we had a really large shipment order.
I sent DH out for shopping
He was able to get almost everything we wanted.
We are staying in tonight and having salad and a glasss of wine
Tomorrow we will get up early and head out
I dont have any political news...
Oh and make sure to check out my signature.
Im Debbie #4
I love the signature, Debbie! It's too cute. :rotfl:

it is revolting. and some guy in palm springs shot a guy today at toys r us. what is WITH people? and that flat screen deal at wal mart was available online, so again i ask, what is WITH people?
I saw the coverage on TV when I was out of town too. I saw the man's poor father on TV earlier today. I felt so awful for him. I'm not a sue-happy person, but I really think he should sue that Wal-Mart. His son signed up to work at the store, not do mob control duties. I know they said they took precautions, but I personally don't believe for a second that they did what they needed to do to protect their employees.

Hi, everybody. So, is a conservative Independant welcome here or just the Republicans (I capitalize the word Republican every time.)
Welcome! :goodvibes Looking forward to posting with you. I'm a conservative Independent myself. I used to call myself a conservative Republican, but the Republican party abandoned too many of its principles for me to continue calling myself a Republican. I will again when they as a whole get their act together.

No, it's dull at my house. My sister is at work, my dad is at work, my brother is in bed, my mom's watching TV.... yawn.
Be thankful it was dull! I'd give anything for dull holidays.

If at first you don't succeed? Sue, sue, sue!!
:rotfl: Sad, but true.

So did anyone see that Chris "Tingles" Matthews may run for Senate?:scared1:
Quite unfortunately, I've been aware of this for at least a month. :sad2:

I don't care where I stay as long as I get to go! I'll stay on Tom Sawyer's Island (or is called something else now?) or Swiss Family Robinson/Tarzan's Treehouse if I have to!
It's still TSI and SFR Treehouse in WDW, thankfully. I went in the treehouse for the first time ever on my birthday. It was a neat view of the MK, but whew, those stairs!

Our church supports missionaries who live in Nigeria. Here's an excerpt of their most recent prayer letter:

Whatever our problems here are, thankfully we have gotten to this point yet. :sad2: A 'flee' bag - I cannot even imagine...
Agreed. We are very fortunate.

I get so annoyed with marketing for sports teams, etc, that all seem to think us women only want something with their logo if it is redone in pink. Last time I checked there was no pink in football, baseball, or the military. I refuse to buy any of that crap. If I want to wear a logo for a team, or something that says I'm a military wife, then give it to me in it's proper color scheme or don't give it to me at all. (rant over)

You're not alone. My SO feels the same way. She's a big Astros fan, but a lot of their merchandise they sell for women is in pink. When we visited their shop at Minute Maid Park this past Summer, not only were most of the items for women in pink, but they were way too "girly" for her. All the jerseys and T-shirts she owns are just smaller sized men's items.
THANK YOU. Couldn't agree more. I'm a diehard baseball fan. So diehard, you can put me in a room with a bunch of guys and I will most likely give them the smackdown in terms of my baseball knowledge compared to theirs. ;) And yet these stupid MLB teams expect me to wear pink jerseys, hats, shirts, and all of that junk just because I'm a female. I want my Braves stuff in the appropriate colors, none of this girly cruddola. The only *unusual* color baseball item I have is a pale lavendar Braves hat that I bought at Disney's Wide World of Sports in 2007 during Spring Training. It has the Disney WWoS logo on one side, the A logo on the front, and "Spring Training 2007" on the back. it's one of my fave hats. But if it had been pink, I would've never bought it. I find pink baseball clothing and hats so stinking insulting. Like a woman can't love baseball stuff unless it's dumbed down. And I say that as someone who loves the color pink. It kinda goes hand in hand with the stereotype that women only like baseball for the guys who play it. Bull. Almost all of my official stuff is just a small men's size. Although I do have a couple jerseys that are the female versions, just because I'm so tiny and look like I'm swimming in the men's sizes. :rotfl:

For the record…

Turner Classic Movies and all of the Turner Broadcasting Co. merged with Time Warner sometime in the late 1990s. Turner was on the board for a time, but I don't believe he is anymore. I think we can safely watch the TCM network and maintain our Conservative bona fides, particularly if we cleanse ourselves in between with healthy doses of the Fox News Channel. You know, we just gotta watch the old movies, what with their love of God and country, their shameless promotion of Christmas, and their undying respect for the American soldier and American exceptionalism. One just can't find that coming out of Hollywood anymore.
On a related note, Ted Turner was the Braves' owner for years before that sale. Now, I think Turner's an idiot to the nth degree. And not because of his politics, but because of some of the nasty stuff he's said about Christians and other people of faith. But he was behind some good movies, and he was the ideal baseball owner in that in the 1990s he got out of the way and wrote the checks, and some really big ones at that. The man, in the last decade or so he owned the team, was a great owner. I can dislike a person's politics and hate a person's intolerant comments towards religion, but still respect them for what they are good at. I try to see good in everyone.

Welcome home SD

I know what you mean. My dad loves to argue and loves to make up stuff to argue about. Normally, I ignore him and just smile because I know he's trying to start something. BUT, when I decide to argue, I'm good at it. I'm not going to argue unless I know at least some of the facts. So imagine my response when he's sitting at the table and actually said that the Muslim religion and Christianity are almost the same. I was nice, but started naming things. Then it was the Koran and The Bible are almost exactly the same, it was just that some interpreted them differently. :rotfl2: He didn't like what I said so it ended with him saying "You just don't listen. There's no use in even talking about it." Now, I know that not all Muslims are extremists. My DB's best friend is from Pakistan and is Mulism, but they don't believe any where near the same things we do. Since he likes to start stuff everytime we all (extended family and all) get together, a few enjoyed me telling him what facts I did know. He couldn't deny them. But, understand this is a person that rarely attends church and believes anything that is on Discovery or History. I like them, but WOW. And, he likes to watch a couple that has a show that I can't remember, but her name reminds me of Godzilla.
I think there are just times when your buttons get pushed by family in the exact manner that does maximum hurt/annoyance. Intentioned or not. Personally, I just get tired of having some of the same unnecessary discussions ad infiniteum every daggone Thanksgiving. Would go into detail, but it's (what else?) complicated.

On the topic of family, I'd appreciate some prayers for my grandmother. She's come down with some kind of virus, and I'm worried about her.

Have you guys ever seen this? It's Glenn Beck and a friend of mine posted it on MySpace. It describes the OS nicely-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-JbRH2morI

Hope that works. I have another would I'd like to post but that might not be a good idea.... who knows who's watching this thread...

Thanks for the Beck post. It was great, and so sadly, freakin' true. He had some great lines in there, though:

"The biggest liberal blog of them all — The New York Times!"

"Edward R. Murrow (Keith Olbermann's hero) would have despised Keith Olbermann."

"Most people believe that the Media Matters website just feeds into Keith Olbermann's teleprompter and he reads it like a Disney animatronic robot."

"To people who rely on the liberal hacks disguised as journalists for their news, (the lies they tell) become the truth."

And my favorite line of the whole piece:

"What does this say about the willingness of progressives to think for themselves? It's one thing for the (liberal) blogs to lie, it's another thing for them to know that they'll never be caught or held responsible (because their target audience buys every single lie hook, line and sinker)."

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I used to really like The Shawshank Redemption, but I find it really hard to watch Tim Robbins in it now. He just had to open his trap and spoil a great movie for me!

:headache:

Definitely, SD.

Does anyone have a quick list of prayer requests they have written down? I missed a few days, and I'm not sure if I'm missing anyone?

BTW, I finished Chrsitmas Sweater this weekend. I loved it. DD has asked to read it after reading the cover. Yeah!!!:cheer2:

haha you and I could have alot of fun putting guys in their place when it comes to talking sports. I used to work for a MLB team for 3 seasons, and in athletic/sports retail for several years before that. I have TONS of jerseys from there, but I have shirts or jerseys for every major sport, as well as an autograph collection that would make many a grown man cry. It's the one thing my ex tried desperately to get his grubby paws on during my divorce and he failed miserably.:) Granted I've been sort of lost on sports the last year or so with other things going on in life, but I can hold my own in any sports conversation for football, hockey, basketball, or baseball, but baseball is my first love. I started collecting baseball cards when I was 10 or 11 and kept them with the intentions of passing them down to my boys someday. I have a few boxes in the garage that are full of cards. I likely have 20,000 or more cards, including some really nice ones. (I was a Mark McGuire fan way back when he was a rookie so I have all of his rookie cards, etc.)

I've been seriously toying with the idea of designing some ballcaps and stuff for military wives as everything we have is pink and I hate it. I wear a baseball cap literally every day of the week when I'm not at work or church, so I have tons of them. I have thick hair and I hate when it gets in my way so I keep it pulled into a ponytail through the back of my ballcaps.

I think I'm going to buy that. I have a Books-A-Million discount card so I'd get quite a bit off of it.... Glenn Beck is one of my heroes.:goodvibes

Thank you and I'll say a prayer for your DGrandmother. DFIL is still in the hospital. He may get out and go to the recovery nursing home for a couple of weeks. He's got the use of his right arm back - it wasn't so much that he lost the use, he was confused of what to do. He could feed himself or brush his hair because it was like he forgot how. He's having trouble with his speech too. He knows what he wants to say but gets frustrated because the words aren't getting from his brain to his mouth. He told his doc (over the course of a couple of minutes on Saturday) that he WANTED to go to the recovery nursing home because we NEEDED to bring the kids to go see Mickey Mouse. :goodvibes He's such a sweet old guy. DH is the only family he has and he knows he'll be moving in with us for a while when he gets out of the hospital, that's why he told the Dr he WANTED to go nursing home. Of course if things don't work out with the nursing home, DH will be staying home with him.
