These things are not mutually exclusive. ;) They are, however, mutually nasty. I'll stick with my rum thank you very much. LOL

Lol, Tink.

I'm going to have an eye exam tomorrow. Haven't had one in about 25 years...and I'm getting horrible headaches from the computer and when I try to make jewelry. Thinking it's time for some reading (and small work) glasses. Is it weird that when I went to look at frames yesterday I didn't like any of the women's ones? :confused3 I may end up with men's frames. All the women's ones are really small, and I don't like to see my rims right across my line of sight.

Today I went shopping for veterans. Our little community market has a giving tree up for veterans and there are just scads of tags. :( I grabbed three, and after I shopped and returned those, I grabbed three more to shop for tomorrow while I'm out. They are asking for such small things... I'm having a blast being "secret Santa," and feeling really blessed that I can do it. Most years we haven't been able to do anything more than participating in the kids' food drives and giving time to the little charity I work with.

My husband made me fall in love with him all over again today. I was telling him how much the kids and I enjoyed buying presents for two kids from the giving tree at the Y last week, and he asked me if the tree was empty (all the childrens' tags gone). I didn't know. He told me to go back and find out, and if it isn't empty, to make it empty and use his card. We are temporarily using separate checking accounts because it is easier than trying to manage a single checkbook when we are not in the same country. I have a debit card for his account, though, which is what he was referring to. My husband has eleven siblings. He knows what it is like to not have much, and knows that he was fortunate to have what they did just the same. I think he, like me, is just feeling really blessed to be able to help others this year. Anyhow, I thought it was so darn sweet of him.

Want some rum? pirate:

No way! Christmas goldfish! I gotta get some of those! My kids love goldfish. I'll stick them in a bowl on Saturday when we have our Christmas party and they will be thrilled to death. Thanks for mentioning them!

That is such a kind thing to do. What a great hubby you have, too.

honugirl- Well my doc is a lady, so, umm, yeah. :rotfl:

H is back!

Quote:
Obama wants to ‘reboot America’s image’

By JENNIFER LOVEN AP White House Correspondent

12/10/2008

WASHINGTON—President-elect Barack Obama says he will try to “reboot America’s image” among the world’s Muslims and will follow tradition by using his entire name—Barack Hussein Obama—in his swearing-in ceremony.

...Asked if he would drop his middle name during his inauguration on Jan. 20, the president-elect said he would not.

“The tradition is that they use all three names and I will follow the tradition, not trying to make a statement on [sic] way or another,” he said.
sooooo...he's trying to 'reboot America's image' but 'not trying to make a statement one way or another

I call Shennanigans on the "tradition" of using all three names

"Jimmy" Carter

Ronald (Doesn't use middle name) Reagan (long vid-at 5:40)

I don't care if H wants to use his middle name. Heck, it means it's fair game now and his disciples can't cry about it anymore. But please, just say "I want to use my middle name" don't cite "Tradition" when it's obviously not.

LOL! Too funny! Were you able to find those gold coins yet? If not, I'll gladly pick some up for you.

Oooops! Didn't mean to ignore you! I did find them today (well actually I guess that was yesterday now...I really need to go to bed). Thanks so much again for your kind offer to pick them up for me. That was so sweet of you. :lovestruc

That cracks me up about your DH -- he's a doctor! I have a friend who is an OB/GYN who gets really queasy when someone has respiratory problems....

And, please post pics of the quilt when you're done....
Yep. He can't handle vomit. Other bodily fluids he can deal with, but not vomit (especially at 3 in the morning....)

So, H didn't speak to Blago ...

Axelrod said that he did ....

'unnamed aide' said that the Ax was lying ...

so what do we do with this news story, dated November 8th --

'met' - note the past tense of the article....

then, this news organization backpeddled...

so, who is lying?
Blah blah blah - geez Debbie - Obama does no wrong. You know that right? ;)

Oh my gosh, your husband is the sweetest thing ever. Was the tree empty?

I wear glasses - I hate them. All of the frames are small, but that's the style now. Good luck in finding what you need - hope your headaches go away.

No biggie.

This has nothing to do with our thread, but you know how we're looking for a new vehicle? Yesterday I made DH come with me to talk with the sales guy. I am perfectly able to talk with him on my own, but I wanted DH there to actually look at the cars and help me decide on what I want. When it comes to the actual negotiations, I'd prefer DH to not be with me as he messes things up.

Anyway, he came and saw all of the great rebates that are out there on the 2008s. He just called me and told me that he wants to buy a new truck for him too because the deals are so good.

What in the heck is his problem? The only reason why we are buying me a car is because we have to turn our car in. I wanted to just buy the car we've been leasing, but DH insisted that we get a new car so we don't have anyone else's problems (um, honey, we're the only people who have been driving it). His truck is a 2004 and has about 100,000 miles on it. His tackometer is acting up and his gas mileage has gone down. We are two payments from his truck being paid off and now he wants to buy another one? Let's just fix the darn thing. With this kind of thinking, no wonder we are in debt. He just doesn't get it. I need to put him in charge of the bills for a few months so he will get it, but the last time I did that, he screwed everything up. We weren't late or anything, but he threw everything away - including tax paperwork that said "keep." Gah.

He's a great husband, a great dad and a great doc. I need to keep saying this when he does things like this. Oh, and when I told him that I didn't think it was a good idea, he got all huffy with me. Gah.

Okay, rant over.

Your story reminded me of the Everybody Loves Raymond when he takes over the bills and the lights get turned off. :happytv:

Maybe you can convince him to get your car now and wait for even better deals in the fall when the model change happens? Cars are usually on sale in Aug/Sept anyway this year they will be great sales no doubt!

It's snowing in south Louisiana and we're going cuckoo. We have a mayor singing "Let it Snow" on the news. He needs to stick to government. My husband said keep our daughter home because people don't know how to drive in icy conditions.

Wow.
It's supposed to snow here Sunday. We'll see.

So snowing in southern Louisiana. Global warming? :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I'll try that route. He's irritated with me because I told him I didn't think it was a good idea. Oh well. He'll survive.

Uh, try as you might to say otherwise, you still are not the slacker that I am! But, I don't hate you as much....I love a woman who's willing to confess dirty toilets -- ;)

I'd say that is a tag-worthy statement :P

Here's a link to my craft blog which is not as "complete" as it should be, but there are only so many hours in a day....

http://allthingscrafty.blogspot.com

I do other crafts besides quilting, that is just my favorite (and most expensive).

I'd love to see some of your pictures of stuff you've made. I always get inspired by other's work....maybe you'll give me some ideas for finishing up a couple of my projects. Here is the one I'm most stumped on, and the one I'd like to finish the most. It is the Pledge of Allegiance, and I would like to make it a wall hanging for my dining room, which, when I get the chance to actually decorate it, will be in old Americana style:

I love this!!! Did you embroider the Pledge or was it printed like that? Just gorgeous (and it would match my living room perfectly!)

The center is a printed fabric panel that I found in the quilt shop where my mom lives in Colorado Springs. I ADORE her shop..better than any around here. Anyway, I saw it and they had sold out of them in the store, so I begged and pleaded with the owner to let me have it, and she finally caved. :rotfl: I had to fiddle with it some though because it was cut crooked so I "fudged" a bit trying to square it up with the first set of borders. I feel like it needs a little something more, I just don't quite know what.

When i get around to decorating I plan to carry that theme into my living room area as well, as the kitchen is a gally style that opens into the living room. Perhaps I can make something to go on the walls there too....hrmm....food for thought!

Some of my stuff has been a "work-in-progress" for years. Don't think I'm doing all this stuff in a day!

The only things that get finished pretty much as soon as I start them are my wreaths. Those only take me a few hours, and I get paid for most of those, which is incentive to finish them quickly;) I charge 50 bucks + shipping for my wreaths, which usually nets me about 15 in profit for each one, after buying supplies. It isn't much, but I enjoy doing it so it is worth it for my time.

OOOh - I want to see pictures of your wreaths.

You are a woman with many talents! :) How many kids do you have JB? (Maybe if I didn't spend all this time on the internet I'd actually get things done too). :)

Oh dear that is not good! But so beautiful. You have a great talent. One that is somewhat lost in today's world. :goodvibes
