ebates is a site which provides rebates on a certain percent of your online purchases, depending upon the vendor. some vendors only offer coupons, but mostly you'll look up a vendor name and it'll have about a 4% rebate.
take j.c. penney as an example. perhaps i'd like to purchase some new bath mats. i'll go to ebates.com and log in, then i'll choose j.c. penney from the vendor list. they offer 4% cash back on purchases. i peruse the bath mat choices, make my selection, enter any other promotional code from the store, and check out.
you won't see the rebate on the j.c. penney order form, but within two or three days, you'll see the sale recorded in your ebates.com account. each quarter, based on those purchases, they send you a check. i think if you exceed some certain amount in rebates they'll send the checks more often.
to date, i have received $642.73 in rebate checks. it has taken about five years, but it's free money.
you can also search by item to see which vendors give the bigger rebates. interestingly enough, i see that
amazon is no longer a member, but ebay is!!!
most importantly, disney.com is a member.
i've never received any spam or weird e-mail either from this site or their vendors. the only message i ever get is when there is extra cash back being offerred.
