Hi All... HELP!

My family and I are booking through a travel agent 2 rooms at the Poly GVCL Dec. 28-Jan 4. The issue is that there are two "specials" the agency is offering, so we have to make 2 separate reservations for each room to get the discounted price. They are telling me that we will have to physically check out of the room and check back in because of the 2 reservations. They can't guarantee we will get the same 2 rooms. This seems so crazy to me. I don't understand why we have to vacate the rooms? To me it should just be a paperwork issue.

Has anyone ever had to do this before and did you have to change rooms?

Thanks for any info!

Yes many folks have had to change rooms. In the eyes of the Resort you have 2 unique reservations. Each reservation knows nothing about the other reservation.
That said, although you will have to go to the desk and physically check out and then check in, you can minimize the risk of having to move rooms by booking the same room category for each reservation. Then when you check in for the first reservation tell the CM you are staying and ask if you can stay in the same room. They will definitely try, if possible
Good Luck

Hopefully is correct. You have 4 completely separate reservations (2 for each room.) For you it's one vacation, but Disney considers each reservation to be separate since you had to book them separately to take advantage of the special offers. As long as you booked the exact same resort/room category let the castmember at the check in counter know you have a continuing reservation and would like to remain in the same room. It will be noted and as much as possible they will let you stay in the same room, but there is always the possibility you will have to move.

I'm in the same boat. To take advantage of the room discounts Disney just announced, we'd have to break our Dec 30-Jan 7 stay into two parts (the deal is only for check-ins Jan 1st and later). Because it's the busiest time of the year, we feel our chances of having to switch rooms is much higher than it would be if we were traveling at a slower time. I'm just not sure the time and hassle is worth it. While I'd love the discount, I think being guaranteed to stay in the same room is going to win out, and we'll just keep our current reservation.

Last November, we added a day to the beginning our our four day stay at BWI. Because we decided to add the one day about a month before our trip, we ended up with two reservations. I called Disney and asked them to note on our reservation that we have a consecutive stay. When we arrived, even though we already had our room number texted to me, I stopped at the front desk and asked if we would be staying in the same room. They said yes we were. I asked if I needed to check out and check back in the next morning and they said no I did not. Maybe because I had a credit card on file? The next morning I received my bill for the one day via email and at the end of our stay I got my bill for the remaining days. YMMV, but that was our experience.

Yep.

It's not guaranteed, but communication (and booking the same category) will help you.
