Can you buy your 7day hopper plus passes through Connections (or other ticket brokers like Floridatickets or ticketmania,) then Upgrade the plus pass to an AP Plus within the 7day time period? Or do you have to buy the orginal 7 Hopper plus pass directly from Disney or at the parks first paying thier prices? Hope this makes sense?!

I believe they can tell from the ticket what you paid so the credit would be what you paid and not what the park price for the ticket is.

I ordered my HP tickets from Florida Orlando Tickets. At that time, their price was lower than Connections'. Mine do not have the price I paid written down, merely quote the regular price and the word "discounted", but do not indicate the value of the discount.

I am hoping to swap them for PAP in August.

That information is encoded into the magnetic strip on the back of the ticket. Disney will know what you (and probably also the wholesaler) paid for it.

I don't think that buying hopper passes from a discounter will result in a lower/discounted price for an AP or PAP. IMHO, that would be too good to be true and you know what they say about that!

Enjoy your trip!

You are right. I called Guest Services and they confirmed that the value of the pass is encoded in the strip, to be read at the time you swap your tickets. So you always pay the difference that adds up to the current value of the AP anyhow.

Well, in theory, it may be true that they can tell what you paid. However, my personal experience last week was different.

We ordered 7 day PHP from Connections. While at Disney last week, we decided to make a return trip next year before our dd turns 3. So, 5 days after our first use of the passes, we took them to Epcot Guest Services to upgrade them to APs. Although the CM spent a while typing in information etc., we had no problems and our TOTAL cost to upgrade BOTH passes to APs was $57.20. It appears we got "credit" for full price PHPs toward our APs (which we got our DC discount on). Also, although the CM told us they would be backdated to the first day we used our PHPs, they were in fact dated through the day we upgraded - so we essentially got 5 days of park entry for "free." We ended up paying only $321 each for our adult APs - that is a great price!!

Now, I realize I probably got lucky but I would say it is a possiblity that this may happen for others also. If you may upgrade to APs anyway, it would not hurt to try it and see if you too get lucky.
