Connecting rooms

2 rooms, one reservation VS 2 rooms, 2 reservations.
I was told by a CM that one reservation guarantees connecting rooms.
Can y’all tell me about your experiences?

I do understand nothin is ever truly “guaranteed,” but I am wondering if we have higher chances with one reservation type.

We actually already have one reservation with two rooms. BUT, my family will be staying extra nights (grandparents leaving early) and it is a little cheaper to add nights onto the package pricing instead of adding a hotel-only stay….and that would mean we would need to do two separate reservations.

I don't believe anything you do with how you setup your reservation will 'guarantee' connecting rooms. That sounds like what the Disney person told you was incorrect and not anything I have ever heard anyone else say on here. Disney makes a distinction between 'connecting' and 'adjoining' rooms, so it is also incorrect to assume they use the terms interchangeably.

Even if there is only one adult and multiple minors, Disney not only doesn't guarantee connecting but often don't manage it in assignment.

If you want guaranteed connecting, book Swan-Dolphin. Marriott do a good job of it.

This is exactly why we bought DVC for the 2 bedroom villas because as often as not you don’t get connecting rooms

Actually, I think something has changed and they do now.
I've even had someone have it in writing in their reservation description
I suppose it's a guarantee as well as any chain guarantee's anything you book in writing.
I'd never seen them do before though, put "connecting" in their booking

I ask about others’ experiences because I’ve had multiple CMs tell me connecting is guaranteed with one reservation. So I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the extra $900.

Yes, DVC would be ideal, but unfortunately, we cannot do DVC this trip. Keeping this in mind if we ever return.

Ok.? That's why I showed an actual reservation that gave visual proof that it is possible to get connecting guaranteed on a reservation in writing.

Sorry. Rereading that response..didn’t make sense to your post (it was late). 😂 I think I was more printing out the fact that yours had that and so many others keep saying it’s not every possible.

Was that a TA booking or directly through Disney?

The problem with that is your room is not your room until they assign it to you. And I've actually arrived at the resort, been told I had one room, and given another.

Disney does not block out rooms as we book them. We get whatever is available that day, when we check in. Disney tries to give us what we ask for, but sometimes even paid for room categories are not available

Chances are good you will get connecting rooms if you ask for them. But will you be ok on the off chance you don't? What is your plan B?

We will be okay without connecting. However, we have a family of 6 in one standard room (including crib, stroller, etc.). It would be nice to have that extra room in the grandparents’ space. The whole reason for our trip is to go with grandparents (even had to reschedule this trip bc grandparent was sick).

I totally get the idea that it may not be actually 100% guaranteed. But, is there some % chance of one type of reservation can the other based on anecdotal experience? Like, one reservation is 85% likely vs 5% likely on two? 😬

And you booked this directly from Disney? I.e., this is an email from Disney and not a travel agent? I ask because I’ve never gotten an email name beginning “Final Itinerary for…” from Disney, my booking emails are always titled “Thank you for booking at WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort!” but maybe they’ve changed their email template.

I can see that you are getting lots of replies that cast doubt on your guaranteed connecting room reservation. But we have booked one of these, as I stated in an earlier post, and we got connecting rooms. The way the reservation listed the guests was unlike the way they do it when booking separate reservations. So, I think you have an excellent chance of getting what Disney promised. :)

I haven't seen anyone say that they booked two rooms under one reservation number and did not get connecting rooms.

It was through Disney, on the phone, 2 rooms, 1 reservation.

That's my point, this is new wording, from Disney

As is the case in every hotel in the world.
I only said that connecting can be put in writing.

When we wanted (hoped for, but didn't really NEED) connecting rooms several years ago, to increase our chances we booked at POFQ, which has, if I recall correctly, over 50% of their rooms that connect. So that was the way I went to increase our chances. We did get connecting.

Disney has themselves protected from every which way. I think the only thing that is guaranteed at Disney World with a hotel reservation is that you will get a "room" to fit your party, somewhere. Upgrades are usually free, downgrades get refunded differences. I imagine terms and conditions override everything else a guest is told.

A few items from 2022 terms and conditions ~

"Adjacent rooms, connecting rooms or specific room location and types of rooms or bedding are on a "request basis only" and are subject to availability at the time of check-in. These requests for a specific room type or location may result in additional charges to be paid directly to the hotel."

"Disney reserves the right to accommodate Guests to a comparable or upgraded hotel in Disney’s discretion."

"Disney reserves the right to cancel or modify a room reservation (including after the room reservation has been confirmed) if the room reservation includes or resulted from a mistake or error of any kind, including but not limited to, a mistake or error in the rate, resort or room type, or where it appears that a guest has engaged in fraudulent or misleading activity in making the room reservation."

Surely ya'll realize this is in every hotel reservation ever, right?
Please don't act like Disney does this an no one else ever does it
