Have people been able to get connecting rooms when booking two rooms? I’m just concerned as we haven’t had good luck in the past with getting our room requests - specific buildings; floors, etc -

Connecting rooms are a request only. No way to book them. I have had good luck getting them in the past, but there also were 2 times I didn't get them.

How many adults are in your family? Can you make due without connecting rooms?

It is unlikely to get connecting rooms. You can request it, but even when we had medical concerns within our party, we did not get to have connecting rooms. It depends on all kinds of variables including occupancy rate, the check-in and check-out of everyone else, room category, and so much more. I would make a Plan B in the event that you can't get connectors.

Thank you. That’s really good to know. I think maybe I’ll look at renting dvc or a one bedroom suite instead of the two rooms.

Guests booking Poly DVC studios whether direct with Disney or via rental have a high likelihood of having requests for connecting studios granted - all but two or three of them connect.

It's just a request, however we ALWAYS request it when traveling with my mom and we have ALWAYS gotten it at every level resort (we've done this at least yearly since 2004.) Never a guarantee, but pretty likely I'd say.

That's really surprising to me...I'm curious as to where you were staying and if you went down and spoke to someone at the front desk...seems very un-Disney-like to not grant a request like that when there were medical needs.

We received connecting rooms when we called Disney and booked a multi-room reservation. The multi-room reservation has both rooms listed on the same reservation number and all of the guests listed on the reservation have access to both rooms. It was very convenient. You can't book it online. This method of booking would be your best chance of getting connecting rooms - although I'm sure that it isn't guaranteed.

It does happen. WDW tries to prioritize "medical needs" but if there aren't 2 rooms next to each other available, they can't do it regardless of the reason. However your advise to go to the front desk is good, as they will try to work out a solution if the guest is also willing -- such as changing rooms the next day or something.

I'm a sample size of one, but the only time I requested it, I received it. A) we both had the same type of room B) both parties were linked as traveling together C) i made it the priority request.

I just got them in July at Pop. I called and requested. Note that they are 1) based on availability, and 2) given first to parties with multiple children (so said the CM I talked with).

A one bedroom villa will sleep either four or five depending on the resort. There is one king sized bed in the bedroom and either a queen sleeper sofa and twin sleeper chair or a queen sleeper sofa and a bunk sized murphy bed or just the queen sleeper sofa in the living room depending on the resort.

It is more likely if the reservation has only 2 adults and the connecting room is for children. To do that though you have to call and try to get the rooms on one reservation #.

BUT they will also say that the adults can (and are expected to if connecting rooms are not available) split up, so that is not a guaranteed way to get them.
