Connecting Rooms

Wondering if anyone booked a connecting room not knowing the people in the connecting room.....was there any noise factors due to having a connecting door.

We've been in many connecting rooms. Not any noisier than a non-connecting one. If the guy next door is a loud snorer, or doesn't turn off his alarm on his clock, you might hear it, whether or not the door is there.

I agree with PP, I've also been in connecting rooms more often than not, and haven't noticed any noise difference.

Took a cruise on Dream in April 2018; concierge. Had a connecting room, neighbors were loud. They had family on the ship and everyone came to their room, lots of noise in room and on verandah, early in the am and late at night, no consideration. Thankfully, 3 night cruise and we were out of room a lot. Just booked for 2020, not concierge, and made sure to select non connecting room. Hope for less noise.

Not saying it was definitely not the connecting door, but I've been in staterooms with NO connecting door and had noisy neighbors before. I think that part is simply the luck of the draw.

I haven't done it on a cruise ship but I have stuffed a towel at the bottom of a connecting door with a loud family next door in a hotel before and it helped a lot! I really haven't heard many noise complaints on DCL with connecting rooms so I wouldn't worry about it. A few other cruise lines do have more noise complaints with the connecting rooms vs. non connecting but I think Disney might just do a better job with sound proofing the staterooms.

We've always done connecting rooms with travel companions, but I always find them very sound proof (both our families have had kids in the middle of a meltdown with the other room was none the wiser). I find that noise from the hallways and especially the balconies is more of an issue (not that it is bad, just that it tends to leak into the room more than from the connecting door).

On the Dream we had connecting rooms and never heard our neighbors. This year on the Fantasy we had connecting room and had very noisy neighbors. Going forward I am going to avoid those rooms when I book again.
