We just made ressies for in Nov. at the All Stars and asked for connecting rooms, which we were told we would get due to the ages of our kids. We are a party of 6 with myself DH, and 4 kids ages 9 and under. I have read many times about people getting there and connecting rooms not being available. Are we just out of luck if that happens? Or will they ask us to split up, an adult and 2 kids in each room?? I really do not want to spend my vacation in a seperate room from DH...

I can only tell you about my own experience - once, we were told they were unavailable and we got 2 rooms that were next to each other and not adjoining.

We had made the request months before we went and I reminded them right before we left home, but it didn't seem to matter. What I think might help is checking in as early as possible in the day. Now, you probably won't get in your room til 3:00, but do a pre-check in in the AM if you can, so that you can get the adjoining rooms reserved for yourself that day. Have them hold your luggage for you, go to the parks, and then come back in the PM to get into your room.

I've found that we have better luck with requests when we do it this way - I hope it helps you!:D

Like Hayley I can only speak for myself. We have three minor children and on our last three trips we have requested, been guaranteed (it said that on our confirmation), and received our connecting rooms.

Hayley, did you have at least three minor children involved? I know they do not guarantee it unless there are. I will definately be nervous next time if it didn't happen for you!

Rooms that are next to each other are adjoining rooms, so if you requested adjoining rooms and got 2 that were next to each other, you got just what you asked for. Some adjoing rooms are even directly across the hall from the room they adjoin. If you want rooms that are next to each other and have an inside door that lets you go from one to the other without going out in the hallway, you need to ask for connecting rooms.

Then, look on your reservation confirmation. If it says adjoining rooms requested, they will try to give you rooms that are next to or across from each other (but not connecting). If it says connecting rooms, you are all set (but it wouldn't hurt to remind them). I have read that people have had connecting rooms guaranteed on their confirmation when the connecting rooms are requested because of small children or special needs (like what soccer mom reported).

Well, I don't know what words I used, but the hotel knew what I was talking about because they apologized for not being able to give us the ones with the door that connects them.

But now that I think of it, it was my 2 sisters, their husbands, my husband, and our 4 kids - 10 people in 2 rooms (:p it wasn't as bad as it sounds!) and maybe we weren't a priority because we had enough adults to cover the kids. Maybe if it's just the 2 of you with more kids, they try to help you out.

I just put the expanation because a lot of people don't know the difference between the two. It's been in a lot of posts and people get confused about the terms.

They do guarantee it unless you have more than two adults in your party. That is obviously what happened to Hayley. Call the front desk the day before your arrival just to make sure all is well.

We have four kids and have always been succesful at getting connecting rooms.
