Connecting rooms - anyone with kids ever NOT get them?

It's just like there new wording for a PS. Advanced Dining "Reservation" but it's still not a "real" reservation is it.

When I made my reservations at the beginning of July, my confirmation said "Request: Connecting Rooms; Request: Non Smoking; Special: Toy Story Building"

I'm guessing mine wasn't guaranteed because I put my kids in my room, and my mother-in-law in the other. The kids will likely sleep in her room so we can go out a few evenings while we are there.

I've requested connecting rooms 3 times and got them everytime. We even had 3 adults and 3 children.

I helped another person recently book rooms in a value a bit ago, and her trip is just over. When her guaranteed connecting rooms didn't happen, she said she obviously could not stay without them. She said her ressies said guaranteed, and what would they do about it. The gal said she had no rooms to give her that were connected. She asked for the manager. She was walked (given) to rooms in a mod at the same price. They gave her a ride over, helped her check in, got her coneecting rooms, and all were happy (in fact estatic).

I think taximomfor4's reason for not being walked to another resort is because she went the week of EASTER. It is ashame that it happened to her. I feel that if it says guaranteed then they better mean it.

When we made our reservations we were told that whenever a person booked two rooms & they had children the room are guaranteed to be connected.

You should call back & doublecheck. I was told connecting rooms are only a request & can not be guaranteed if there are 2 adults.

Just our experience:

We have been told that IF MINORS ARE STAYING ALONE in the second room, you are guaranteed a connecting door.

Since that was not our case -- the second room was for Grandma -- we were never guaranteed connecting rooms, yet we got them every time anayway, as I mentioned above.

So here is the problem. I was also told that because I had minor children that the rooms were guarenteed to be connecting. We have 2 adults and 6 children. My paper work does indeed say "connecting rooms guarenteed." I was also told this for an earlier trip that I had to cancel.
Disney needs to get its act together. Either its guarenteed for families with minor children, or its not. AND if it isn't, then their paperwork needs to NOT say guarenteed!!!

I completely agree. I have a DS11,DD9 & DD8 & had 2 rooms booked at POR. My confirmation stated guaranteed too. Then I read here that its not really guaranteed. So I called to confirm & they admitted that they would "try their best" but if there are 2 adults they can split up to each room to be with the minor children. Even at a small risk & many posting they always get connecting rooms, I didn't want to chance it.

There are no guarantees in life. It seems that if you are one adult then you will get connecting rooms to avoid having minors only in a room by themselves. If you have two adults then the resort will try its best but you may not get connecting rooms. (Aside: I wonder if there are laws regulating having minors only in a room. It seems that there would be. If you left you minor children alone, in some states you could be charged with child endangerment)

If you wanted connecting rooms and cannot get them, keep trying every day to move into connecting rooms.

Well, there are a few guarantees in life.....death and taxes as they say :goodvibes ....

It is totally up to Disney whether or not they guarantee connecting rooms. BUT ONCE THEY PRINT GUARANTEED on the reservation, it should be guaranteed! I don't see how this is different from any other deceptive advertising. They are putting in writing that they are guaranteeing something they never had any intentions of guaranteeing. :confused3 They should just simply stop printing the word "guaranteed" and put something else...like "we'll do what we can...but don't count on it".

In my situation, I am not willing to risk it so we have decided to stay elsewhere. I'm not upset with Disney about it....it is my choice. But in Beth's case....where they guaranteed in writing this option...I would've been VERY upset had I arrived there and this guarantee wasn't met. She, like me, could've (and I dare say would've) made different plans if only Disney would've made it clear from the start that these were not guaranteed.
