Connecting room --guaranteed??

In October we stayed at the PO-FQ. I requested two connecting rooms, and was told that they were guaranteed to be connecting, because we had two young children that would be in the second room. I even had it printed on my reservation paperwork "guaranteed connecting rooms."

Okay..so yesterday I booked on line the king suite at CSR. But this morning, I had a brainstorm that two connecting rooms may be cheaper. Sure enough...it's $500 dollars cheaper!

But..when I requested connecting rooms the CM said they can't guarantee connecting rooms. HUH?? I told her my story about last October, and she seemed less than impressed, to say the least. She basically didn't reply to me at all about it, until I said it again. She said since there's two adults and two children, they won't guarantee it. I don't know..maybe there was something about the way I made my October reservations that let me get guaranteed connecting rooms. I wish I could find that reservation confirmation paper I had with the guarantee on it.

I'm not stressing too much, because I know they will try to put us in connecting rooms..but STILL, why does the policy change depending on who you speak to over there??

I believe she was mistaken. If you have two adults and two children, the rooms are supposed to be guaranteed connecting. If you said you had two children, one of them 11, the other 18....that would be a different story. The 18-year-old child of yours is considered an adult. I would call back.

You are right....policy always changes at CRO depending on who you talk to. Sounds like poor training to me.

For our last stay and for our upcoming stay, we had/have guaranteed connecting rooms for "families". The way that it was explained to me is that if the connection is needed for children, they are guaranteed. That's what we are counting on! I would call back and get a different CM.

Maybe its CBR. I went to CBR last Sept. I also asked for conneting rooms 2 adults 3 children my DS5 and my 2 DD16. Not only did they try to get us to take 2 non connecting rooms. The desk tried to put us in different bldgs. I asked them who would put 2 16 year old girls in a separate room and bldg. I told them I booked this in February for this Sept stay. They said they didnt have connecting rooms. It was 5 pm. I had also put on the reservation I would be a 5 pm or so check in.

I said then please call another disney hotel to find me connecting rooms. The CM went into the back room and low and behold found 2 connecting rooms at the CBR. Hope they didnt go throw someone out of the room, so I could have connecting rooms. OH who am I kidding.

Disney will guarantee connecting rooms if minors will be staying in the second room. I would call back & talk to someone else.

And if the CBR does in fact give a hard time to people who need connecting rooms, then stay at a different moderate.

What if you booked through a travel agent?

We did this for our trip in May, and my mother-on-lsaw and step son will be staying in a seperate room, but we wanted them to be connecting.

Do I need to go through the travel agent or call the hotel or CRO?

They can't and won't guarantee connecting rooms unless an unsupervised minor(s) is involved. If the res is with a travel agent, they will need to call.

That's exactly what I was told in October when I got guaranteed connecting rooms. I think I'll wait to see what my reservation confirmation says when it arrives in the mail. If it doesn't say "guaranteed" I'll be calling back!

I went through this last year when we booked connecting rooms. We always had them guaranteed connecting because of children being in the rooms without adults in the past. This time the CM tried telling me that Disney doesn't guarantee them. I told her we've always had them guaranteed in the past for families. Well after going back and forth for a few minutes, I finally asked to speak to her supervisor. She put me on hold and came back after a couple of minutes and told me they were guaranteed.

I wouldn't wait for your reservation to come. I would call now and if another CM gives you trouble about guaranteeing them, then I would ask to speak to their supervisor.

My understanding about this situation is they will only guarantee them if there is only one adult in the party. They will try very hard for families, but if there are 2 adults, one adult "could" sleep in each room. Not what you would want, but it would be possible. With only one adult they would have to put you in connecting rooms.

What CRO will tell you and what the resorts actually do, are not always the same thing I am sorry to say.
