When having connecting flights that are on different airlines - do the airlines normally transfer your checked baggage to the connecting flight of the other airlines? Its been nearly 25 years since I've done anything like that.

I'm arriving in San Francisco on ATA at 4:44PM and connecting to a Delta flight at 6:25PM. I think that is plenty of time for the connection and transfer of checked baggage. I'm just vague on if they still do that, or ever did, that sort of thing. :)

I thought maybe some of you more frequent fliers would know the answer to this question. Thanks for any input!!

Yes, just tell your airlines of your flights-or better yet given them your iteniary and they will make sure that they are transferred.

You won't have a problem. They have an interline agreement so your luggage will be transfered. Just make sure when the bag is ticketed it is done properly to the correct final destination.

Great! Thank you very much for taking the time to read and reply to my question. I truly appreciate that. :)

Make sure the two airlines you are flying have the interline (or whatever it's called) agreement. It's not across the board. I have had to go get my baggage of the carousel and then re-check it in. I would suggest calling both airlines to double-check.

The airline code for ATA is TZ. I got the following from Delta's website:

Delta Announces Interline Electronic Ticketing with Finnair
Posted: June 22, 2005
Effective June 22, 2005, Delta announces Interline Electronic Ticketing (ET) between Delta and Finnair (AY). Delta now offers interline ET with 20 carriers: AA, AF, AM, AQ, AS, AY, AZ, BA, CO, EK, HA, HP, KL, MX, NW, QF, TZ, UA, US and YX.

TZ is in the list witih Delta for interline electronic ticketing. So, would figure that includes baggage right? Since they doing the electronic ticketing thing together, gotta figure baggage is in there somewhere. :)

It just drives me nuts to call Delta. I always end up repeating my question three or four times, very nicely I might add, then get one word answer. I barely understand them if they say any more than one word. lol
I've e-mailed them twice on this subject even with no reponse in almost a month.
