Is there a such thing as connecting cabins on the Disney Cruise ships (inside door)? We are a family of six and again, we were told that there are no cabins large enough for us so we need to book two cabins instead. We are looking to go in April 2006 and the Cat 1 rooms are booked already. Before I go to call a TA I wanted to ask you guys about this over here first to get a few opinions.

Here are my preferences: 4 days on Wonder, Cat 2's or 3's, Deck 5 and up, must have a window (balcony nice, but not necessary), front of the boat if possible.

****I know that planning a WDW trip is a lot of work, but how much planning do I need to do with a Disney Cruise? I noticed there is a Passporter for the Cruise and I was wondering if I should purchase that, but does a cruise really need to be planned out in detail?

Yes there are connecting staterooms in a few different categories... IF you want everyone in one cabin the Cat 4 or higher is your only option.

Good luck!!

Glad to help a fellow NYer (born and raised)....

There are multiple connecting cat 2 and 3s onboard....check out deck plans at top of this board....

Planning is very important to get the most out of your cruise, especially since you are going on a shorter Wonder cruise.....Time is of the essence, and you want to enjoy every minute of your cruise....

I dont recommend a Passporter book, simply because the information you get here on this board is far superior, and FREE

Also, I can recommend a great TA I've used for all 8 of my cruises....Excellent Cruiseone agent in upstate NY....very professional, experienced, and better pricing than anyone I've gotten quotes from...PM me and I will give you his name/number..

Yes, there are connecting. Cat. 6 and up will give you two balconies on deck 6 or higher.

disney offers connecting cabins (with door) in Cat 9 &10 and Cat 7-4 and I beleive some of the Cat 2 and 3s might have an option to connect to another cabin.

We are a family of 5... and we have booked 2 cat. 6's for our cruise. Each cabin is 319 sq feet giving us plenty of room for our family. The cost for two cat 6's is close to the price of cramming us all into a Cat 4. Perphaps two cat 5's would work better for you guys becasue cat 5's are on a higher deck than the cat. 6's.

HTH and have fun planning!

Cats 1, 2 and 3 are Concierge level and they all have balconies - I think those levels sell out pretty quickly (not many of them) - I've used the Passporter for both cruises and it was very helpful - I'm the opposite, I'm wondering if I need to buy the Passporter for our WDW trip! lOL

If you really don't need the balcony, look into Category 8's, which have connecting rooms available, on decks 5-7 toward the front of the ship. The interior space is identical to cat. 5-7, only difference being the balcony. We have done the connecting room experience in 7004 & 7006 w/ DSIL, DBIL, DN & DN in one room, myself, DW and DS in another, and it worked out great and the kids occupied each other, room to room.

Welcome Cadence,
I was following your threads on the other board and was wondering how long it will be before seeing you plan a Disney Cruise vacation and here you are!!!

I just returned from our Eastern 7 night cruise. We were on Deck 2, I believe catergory 9 with a connecting room. Our room was in an excellent place, just across from the elevator, the first of 3. Our room was near the front of the ship, but not at the very front. Our room numbers were 2530 and 2532. We are a family of 5 and our son slept with my brother's family in the connecting room. There were 2 nights that he wanted to sleep in our cabin so we let him sleep on the sofa bed, and placed our 3 year old on the floor under the desk with pillows propped around her. She slept fine there. Our other daughter slpet on the pull down bunk bed, which pulls down from the ceiling. The room cleaner will come in the room during dinner and prep your room for sleeping, then come back while you are at breakfast to stow away the bunk bed and remake the couch. It's a neat thing.

Just wanted to say welcome to DIS board from another New Yorker north of NYC...(Exit 5 off the PIP).....you got some great info already.....but check out dcl's own website and the deck plans above are great as well.

Also check out www.allseastravel.com for some great rates and comparison (they list their prices right on the website) as well as Dreams Unlimited which sponsers these boards. If you have a membership in Costo check them out as well for pricing. Most places will be cheaper than booking with DCL directly.

Have fun....planning a cruise is almost as much fun as taking one...almost....

Spoon2003, I'm excited!!!

We are definitely doing the Disney Cruise next year. I chose the 4 night vs. the 7 nights (I should do 3 nights actually) because I don't know how my children are going to take in the sea. I already got a quote from an online TA and it's going to cost us a little over 6k for two cabins if we go for it (that's not including the round trip excursion to the port or the airfair). It was quoted with cat 7, doesn't say where the cabin is located or what deck it's on). Does that figure sound right and when do I get the room number info?

Question: I'm choosing first dinner, how many people are seated at the table?

From what I've been reading, there sure is a lot of excitement on the Wonder and I know my children are going to love it.

We are booked in the conecting rooms (inside door) 7004&7006...it's a Cat 8. Deluxe Ocean View (Large window) They are located at the front of the ship.
We last cruised in 7012 which is also a cat 8 DOV...just a couple doors down from the conecting rooms....and loved it. There in a great location...little to no foot traffic...close to the elevators....and to be honest I didn't notice any more sway or movement there compaired to anywhere else on the ship. Oh...to add the four of us (2 adults and 2 children ages 6&11) had plenty of room for all of our stuff and to move about.

I want to second scrapperjill's room recommendations--we have done 7004 & 7006 also, and i leave in 3 minutes to hit the road for 7012 this week!

See ya!!

Family of 6 here also and boy it makes vacations hard to price out! We just returned from the 4 night Wonder in January and we absolutely loved it. We chose the 4 night vs. 7 nights for the same reason - not sure how we would like a cruise. WELL!! Now all 4 girls want to go on a 7 night ASAP.

We booked 2 Cat 9's - Deck #2 and really liked the location. DH and myself and our 6 yo stayed in the one room and our 13, 11 & 9 yo's stayed in the other. I was really debating a Cat 7 for the balconey but for the 4 night did not have a need for it, by the time we arrived back to our stateroom at night we were all bagged and ready to sleep and come morning we were up and raring to go again.

We did have the big Porthole window and they were really nice and we could see Castaway Cay as we sailed in - unfortanetly we could also see Port Canaveral as we returned on the last day also!

Have fun planning your cruise - it is an incredible experience.
