Congressional Temper-tantrum effects on Traveling through airports...

Can some who are traveling through airports over the next few days during the government shut down give an update on how its effecting your trip through tsa?

Not looking for a rant just guidance to see how much (if any) extra time we will have to build in to our schedule to be sure we can get through security in time.

DH and I will be flying domestically next week. (Here's hoping it won't be an issue by then.)

Stated that only 'non-essential' TSA employees will be furloughed. Airports will be open, screening will still take place & air traffic controllers will be on the job.

OP you might want to allow extra time but we have a flight on Saturday and i'm not planning on arriving any earlier than the approx. two hours that we always allow.

Pretty sure the national news will be all over any possible delays. Why not check your home airport's website to see if they post real-time, wait-times for security screening?

It's not affecting travel. Most TSA employees won't be furloughed; air traffic controllers will also stay on the job.

That's a good point. And as my airport is one of the busiest airports in the country its generally one of the first to make the news. I'll keep an eye out there.

We just looked up the wait times. We're pretty sure they aren't accurate. wait times at this time of day are generally a lot longer then what is put out there. Who knows maybe the update guy was one of the "non essential"

Back to the original question. Just went through security at Atlanta. No lines at all.

They're on the job, but won't get paid until this congressional temper-tantrum is over. My DD26 and DSIL are ATC. They actually worked the overnight shift Monday night/Tuesday morning, so they were on the job while most of the government shut down.

They know they'll get paid eventually, but they're still worried about bills and other financial obligations that must be satisfied in the next few weeks.

Just went through MCO on Monday and the line was the shortest I had seen!
