BTW, I have no idea what a First Sargent does, but my sisters boyfriend has just joined the RAF so through him I might find out.
They usually are cranky, ticked off old SOB's and usually go around griping and cussing their soldiers at all times.
No matter how good you do something, it is wrong.
They would call a genius a knucklehead (trying to keep it clean) without even blinking.
If you are smiling while on duty, they have been known to give you some extra detail because they say any soldier who has time to smile is not busy enough working.
"A griping soldier is a happy soldier " is a famous saying of theirs.
They drink hot coffee in 115 degree heat just to antagonize you as you are dripping in sweat. (seen it done or more then one occasion). Then call you a wuss when you won't drink any coffee with them under the same conditions.
With all this being said, they are able to lead and motivate their soldiers more times then not without fail.
They are good guys at heart, and care about their soldiers, and the soldiers know they can count on Top when needed.
