we are making our first ever trip as a grand gathering in 9 days:) i just had surgery on may 3rd. i had a salivary stone the size of an egg removed from my gland. i'am happy that we're going ,but also a little concernd that i may lag behind everyone else because i won't be totally healed they feel for 4-6 weeks. i just need someone to tell me that i won't be a burden to my loved ones, and yes they all know i had surgery. also if this is posted in the wrong spot feel free to move it.

You'll do great! Be aware of your body and if you start to tire, pick a ride to skip, find a nice place to sit for awhile and they'll know where to find you when they're done. They will enjoy telling you about it later too.

There's no reason you need to be attached at the hip at all times. I've had some chronic health issues the last two years and, although we didn't do Disney during that time, I've become an expert at carving out little rest breaks during my day. If you do this, it helps you stay afloat, and helps the whole family's trip because it keeps you going overall.

You should be fine.

You might get tired quicker but that's about it. I had my galladder removed in March on a thursday and was back to work the fallowing wed. For about 2 weeks I got tired more often than I do now. If your staying on property you can always take the bus back to the resort. If not find a bench and people watch. Your group is large enough that not every one will be doing the same ride/activity and you might be come the essential "check in" person as you "rest".

You won't be a burden, go enjoy your GG and most importantly Have fun!

I LOVE that you are so considerate towards your family don't worry they will understand, just do as much as you can and remember to enjoy those wonderful pools:thumbsup2

Don't worry and take things at your own pace.

When we went to Disney I had been very, very ill for the 3 1/2 months prior to our trip. Heck, I'd had a PICC line for 90 days and it was removed the day before we flew to Disney.

I figured the absolute worse would be that I would hang out at the hotel and get to hear about the fun in the evenings but that was not the case.

Our family took things slow and easy. We were part of a grand gathering involving our family, my parents and my sister and her family. We broke up into different groups depending upon who wanted to do what. A couple of times I rested by myself on a bench while they went on a ride but most of the time I had someone taking things slow and easy right along with me.

It was a fabulous trip. Don't push yourself and you'll have a great time.

Ditto to the advice above. Rest when you need to, and don't worry about being a burdern. They all know what happened, and won't be expecting you to run any races. Go and have a wonderful time!

I haven't been sick or had surgery before Disney but after years of going with my older children and riding everything, we adopted 3 younger children. It added a stroller back in to the mix, and younger children that couldn't go as long as the olders, plus of course there are many rides they can't ride. I would just find a bench, use a snack credit to get a bowl of fruit, popcorn or water and sit/snack with my youngest two. We would people watch while my husband and oldest 3 would go ride. I really enjoyed it....it was relaxing and you see so much more when you slow down.

Don't worry....you won't be a burden to your family and you'll see Disney in a whole new way :)
