After checking around to ensure the best price, I made my 3/29/03 reservations in July of 2002 and received a discount (?) for early bird savings. Now when I check Travelocity or Expedia the price for the same cruise has decreased by almost $400.00! I used a travel agent and have not been too pleased with the service I have received. Will Disney allow me to switch my reservations in order to save the $400.00 if I contact them directly? What other options do I have? That savings to us is pretty substantial! Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!

My understanding is that you can change your reservation up to 60 days before the cruise departs, after that you would incur a penalty. My guess is that since the ship is not full, the rooms have been discounted in order to sell them. This is why the travel industry abounds with "last minute" deals. Of course if you wait until the last minute, you risk not getting the dates you want, or the category you want. I called DCL to see if I could upgrade on the 3/22 cruise and found out that the cruise is completely sold out.

rmgoode-- Just be careful. The Travelocity and Expedia price probably doesn't have transfers or insurance included. Your price through the travel agent may or may not. You have to make sure you are comparing the same exact thing. I would go back to the travel agent, tell them what you have found, and see what they can do for you. They should be able to itemize things so you know what is included and at what price. I had a friend get a reduction in price on a RCL cruise a week ago. Their travel agent contacted them in this case and let them know the price had gone down. I wouldn't bail out on the Travel agent yet. Just remember if you run into a problem later on, it's nice to have someone you can go to straighten out the problem.

(No, I don't work for the Travel Insdustry!)

call you travel agent and ask the TA to adjust your price. If the TA won't return your call or refuses to do so, transfer your ressie to Dreams Unlimited - they DO check the prices and adjust if there is a price drop. We have used DU twice now, and are very pleased. Good luck!

You mentioned Travelocity and my experience with them has been awful. Check with the Better Business Bureau and stay away from Travelocity. If I had checked their track record first I wouldn't have dealt with them at all.

Kendall,
Thanks for the info - I had no idea DU did that. We are going to book our next cruise aboard ship, but then I'll be transferring it to DU.:)

The prices for a cruise which we booked through a ta here in the UK decreased after we had booked.

I only found out when I rang them to find out the cost to alter our cat 11 to a cabin with a porthole and was told that the cat 9 I now have was cheaper than the Cat 11 I had booked months earlier.

Our TA applied a £10 per person to alter the booking but even once I had paid that it was worth altering the booking and I have ended up paying nearly the same for the cat 9 as I had budgeted for the Cat 11.

The point is it may be more convenient to alter the booking to a discounted better cabin than to cancel and rebook.

Its still costing me a bit more than I could have got it from DU but I only found these boards and all the excellent advise here after I had booked. I will know for the future

Kay
