I am sure that this topic has been discussed, but it is beyond my skill set to find anything via the search function! :headache: Sorry if it is a repeat!:)

I know that the rules on booking a vacation with points have changed. I can call one time to book a week once the window opens for the first day of my trip. What happens though if I want to stay longer?

As an example, say my trip starts on 3/1, and I have plenty of points for a 2 week stay. I can call on 4/1 to book at my home resort for one week. When can I book the remaining days/second week? Has anyone had trouble getting what they want at their home resort?

Thanks!

You can call each day to add another night or wait a week to book the second week. What resort and what size room are you looking for?

We are members at BCV, and typically go during Spring Break with a 2 bedroom. We are doing something else in 2010, but I was just curious how it all works!

Thanks!

If you want the 2 bedroom with 2 queens, I would add the rest of the nights 1 day at a time.

If you are simply modifying an existing reservation I would think you should be able to do that at any time after the original res is made & not have to bother with the day-to-day booking? :confused3

There is a 7 night limit to reservations at the 11 or 7 month window. If you have a 14 night reservation, they will not allow you to book all 14 nights at the window. So you book the first 7 nights. The next day night 8 would be eligible to be booked, the next day night 9, etc. You can either book day by day for the additional nights or wait until all the next nights are eligible to be booked. This is because you are actually booking more than 11 or 7 months ahead for the additional nights.

The best way to book this woudl be to call on 4/1 and book 3/1 thru 3/7. Then call on 4/6 and book 3/8 thru 3/12 and finally, call on 4/11 and book 3/13/-3/14.

With these 2 phone calls, you are guaranteed being able to extend you vacation as long as you are successful on your first call. Each time thereafter you are booking nights no one else can book unless they also are extending a reservation (and that will be for their own room, not yours). Hence the reason those nights are guaranteed to you.

Just don't wait until 4/8 to try to book 3/8-3/14, as you will then have to compete with any member with your home resort. Best of luck -- Suzanne

I think if you are booking during a high demand period, Debbie's method (calling day by day) is more tedious but will give you the best chance of securing the desired resort for your entire stay.

The downside to waiting until 4/6 to book your second block of 7 days is that plenty of members could call on 4/3 to book 7 days and essentially taking away one or more days from you.

This is merely my opinion and circumstances dictate. I would do a day by day for BCV but probably not for SSR for example.

While anyone is welcome to call MS every day to add additional days to an existing reservation, it is not necessary. For example, I tried to book a SV studio at BWV for Dec 3, but it was already sold out when I called 11 months out at 1 pm. Obviously a busy time. So I called the next day at 9 am and booked 12/4 - 12/10. I called back on 1/9 and added 12/11 - 12/14 with no issue at all.

The reason this works is that I have already blocked anyone else who wants to book my SV studio for dates after my current reservation. In my example, no one else could book my SV studio until 1/11. So when I call on 1/9, I am not competing with anyone else to extend the resrvation. This is the reason that "walking" a reservation works. -- Suzanne

DOH! :headache: Totally forgot about the 7 day limit. Thanks for the reminder!
