Confusion About New DP Rules

I have received two different answers for my questions:
Can you share meals on the dining plan and can you use credits to payoff meals of guest not on the dining plan. I chatted with someone at WDW.com and was told yes to both. I chatted with someone at DVC and was told no to both. Can someone help clarify?

I know for sure that you can use your dining credits towards anyone not on your reservation or on a dining plan themselves. Did that for friends visiting us in the park for the day. As for sharing, I don't know the answer to this.

Are the credits divided into child and adult? So only child can use child credits?

At non-"admission" meals, you can absolutely share food ordered via DDP (exception: Via Napoli is extremely strict that meals ordered with DDP are not shared). As for buying meals for people not on your plan, it's generally allowed, with the old official policies prohibiting it having been ignored or removed.

Between the various plans, all dining plan credits are "pooled", no distinction between adult or child, EXCEPT for the basic DDP table service credits. There, they are still explicitly "adult" and "child" credits.

Here's my scenario- we are taking our DGS (7) so 2 adults and 1 child. According to what I am reading in responses in this thread- I can share a meal with him and save a credit for later and that credit could be used for a child or adult at a future meal. Am I correct?

What plan and what type of meal? If you're talking regular DDP and table service, if you share an adult meal with a child, you will have a child's TS credit extra to use elsewhere. Children's TS credits have to be used on kids' meals.

CS credits, deluxe meal credits, and snack credits are not segregated by adult/child but lumped into a single pool.

In that case, any meal credit saved could be used for any meal, adult or child.

Yes, your entire party can use nine deluxe credits per night any way you choose, including spending them on strangers' meals.

Can I find this in writing somewhere from Disney? I am still getting conflicting answers on sharing meals (not credits) and using credits for guests not on the dining plan from various chats at both WDW.com and DVC website.

No, there is no written policy on it, and those chat people are no better than phone CM's as far as accurate information goes.

There is no written policy on either issue so it is left up to a restaurant's discretion. Most Disney owned venues will let you share meals (use 1 credit to feed two or more people) and use credits for someone not on the Dining Plan. However, some third party restaurants will not allow it and since nothing is written that explicitly allows it, a restaurant can say you cannot use one credit for two people (e.g. Via Napoli). The language stating that credits cannot be used for someone not on the dining plan has been removed, but there is nothing in the current plan that says it is now allowed, so again, it would be up to the restaurant.
