When I was pricing out our trip for the Beach Club next September, I noticed that the price of a Beach Club Studio Villa was just a little bit cheaper than a regular standard view room? Shouldn't a villa be a little pricier than a regular room? What is the reasoning behind this?

A studio only has one bed and a sofa bed. Rooms will have two queen beds and possibly a day bed.

So occupancy for the studio is 4 for the room it can be 5.

Probably because the hotel rooms are much nicer than the villas. I own at BCV and have stayed at BC a few times. The hotel is definitely nicer.

What are the main differences between the villas and the regular rooms?

As stated above, the hotel room will have 2 Queens and in most BC rooms, a day bed. A villa will have 1 Q and a sofa bed as well as a small kitchenette (think wet bar w/toaster, small fridge, sink, microwave). Decor in the BC is a lot more high-end than in the BCV.

I agree with the others about the regular rooms being nicer than a BC studio room. The one nice thing about the studio is that the room will have a balcony and a microwave. But I would choose the standard room.

If you were just pricing by putting dates in, look at the weekend dates. A lot of times the DVC resorts are the same price every day, but the Deluxe resorts have higher rates per night for weekend nights. Typically the weekday rates for a standard view BC room and a studio BCV villa are the same.

I don't think the deluxe rooms are better than the villas. It really depends on whether you want two beds or one bed and a sofa bed. For me, since I usually go solo, I prefer having a sofa to sit on instead of sitting on the bed. I also like having the microwave in the villa.

The sleeper sofa is double sized. So if you have two people, the studio would be fine. But if you have more and want real beds, go with the hotel room.

I asked a CM about this and the standard BC is actually bigger square footage wise than the studio villa. After reading about the villas here we decided to go with the standard room.

That is not necessarily true. The rooms at BC are not all the same size. Some of them are significantly smaller than others due to the architecture of the resort. So while some may be the 380 sq feet advertised, some of them are going to be smaller (the smaller rooms we have had did not have the daybed in them). Since I am usually traveling solo or with one other person, I have been placed in the smaller rooms many, many times.

Although the studios are listed at 356 square feet, having the sofa instead of the second bed makes them feel more spacious.

You can't really make a bad choice between them - it's all about what works better for your family. I just didn't want you to be surprised if you ended up in one of the smaller rooms at BC.

The biggest difference in my opinion is that the studio villa has 1 real bed and 1 sleeper sofa, and you get a kitchenette. Also you need to be aware that the villas are in a separate building from the hotel. (a short walk, but can be slightly inconvenient)

The regular rooms at the BC have 2 real beds (unless you are in a room with a king bed but I'm not sure how many people are in your group), but don't have a kitchenette, only a tiny fridge. In my own personal opinion the BC is nicer than the BCV but that is subjective.

Have a great trip! :thumbsup2
