We are going to the Disney Side Party in May but then the next day we are not going to the parks. The first two nights we will not be staying on WDW property and that is the dilemma... We will be staying on Disney property the other days which is when we were originally scheduled to get our Magic Bands. So my question is how do we add days to our existing reservation without having to pay for that seperate day on the 23rd? Right now our reservation is only set for 5 days but we intend to add 3 more but the 23rd is the only one that would not be after we check in...

I don't understand your question or scenario. Maybe others do, but I just don't get exactly what you are asking or what the issue is from what you wrote.

I think what the OP means is that their package doesn't begin until after the 23rd and that they'd like to use their tickets in advance of that date.

OP, if that's the case, you can go to guest relations outside of a theme park or at DTD and request an early ticket pick-up. You can get your package tickets up to 3 days in advance.

Thanks Vicki nevermind called Disney said I couldn't do it.... Guess Ill be buying my tickets from UT. There isn't any difference between a Undercover Tourist ticket and a Disney Ticket is there?

You can pick up your tickets up to 3 days early - for some reason, call center CMs have been instructed to tell people they can't. And no, there is no difference; UT is an authorized ticket reseller.

But with UT I wouldn't get a magic band would I? How would I do my FP+ can I pre book those with UT

From my understanding, you must be staying on a Disney property to book Fp. Since you are not, you can do it when you arrive at the park.

But what I dont understand is my theme park ticket will be tied to my Magic Band unless I go with UT. How do I request an early ticket pickup 3 days in advance if its on my My Magic Band and that doesn't activate until I am at the rersort which would be the day after?

There's no data stored on your MB. It's merely a key that unlocks the information in your MDE account. The UT tickets are no different than what you'd purchase in Disney so all you need to do is link your ticket(s) to your MDE account and viola, the MB can now see that you have tickets and you'll be able to use that MB for park entry and FP+ reservations.

Okay, so not going to use UT Ive decided against. So if I walk up to Disney with my Magic Band @ Customer Relations on the 22nd and my hotel reservation doesn't start until the 24th I can add 3 additional park days before and after the 24th no problem regardless if my reservation with a Disney hotel doesnt start until the 24th? Sorry I know I'm asking the same question again but the rep is vehemenlty denying it is a possibility even when I told him I think he is lying....

The rep you're talking to doesn't work at the parks. He probably isn't even in Florida, and he might never have been to a single Disney park. He has NO idea how things work once you're there.

Being able to pick up tickets (purchased from Disney) a few days before your package starts has been possible for years and remains possible (though things *could* change) now. And countless people have been told by phone reps that it won't happen.

Either way, at this time you're not going to be able to set FP+s ahead of time for the days you're offsite. You get the MB for having a resort reservation, and you get the FP+s ahead of time for those same days. Getting the ticket from UT vs Disney doesn't change that.

He may have given you the wrong information but that doesn't mean he lied to you. That's a little harsh.

I guess I should feel bad but :rolleyes1 when I told him I had "friends" who have done it before he assured me that is impossible if that's not lying then I don't know what is....

Your originally purchased tickets through your reservation will be ACTIVE up to three days before you officially check in. That means you can enter any park before you actually check into your resort using your magicband.

Now the tickets will be the ONLY thing that works on the band at that time. Your dining plan (if you have one) and charging privileges will not become active until you check in.

What I would do in your situation OP is to simply enter the MK on the 24 hour day to begin your ticket entitlements and 14 day clock. Sometime after you check in you can ADD days to your ticket at a much lower rate than you would pay if you were purchasing a separate ticket through UT ;) You can always add days before your 14 day clock or all your entitlements run out.

I promise you, this will work. I've activated tickets for my past two trips in advance and fully plan on activating my magicband entitlements before I check in this upcoming June. If you need extra park days, just add them on later for the reduced rate of adding extra days to your base ticket. :thumbsup2

If he's been told it can't be done, he probably thought you were lying.

Im sure sorry just very frustrated with Disney.... Seems like they have spent millions of dollars on this My Magic+ crap and all it does it make it more difficult on the informed frequent visitors. This may not be related to that but it still just seems as if they make a ton of stuff a lot more difficult then it needs to be.

I'm not following your logic. What makes it more difficult, especially for informed visitors? In the past, you'd have to go to a ticket office in order to pick up and activate your tickets a few days early. Now, they ship you the magicband and you can walk straight into the park without picking anything up.

Oh, and the consensus seems to be that they spent Billions on the My Magic+ program.
