So, the official dress code is:

Dress to Impress

Adult-exclusive restaurants aboard Disney Cruise Line ships are elegant dining experiences. Guests are requested to dress in a manner consistent with the restaurant’s sophistication. Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Dress casual attire with a polished look is permitted (such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts and blouses and lifestyle shoes). Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear and sports attire is not permitted.

Personally, I find "formal attire is recommended" and "jeans in good condition" are not the same. Can someone tell me what people really wear for dinner at Palo Steakhouse?
Thanks!

Pretty much exactly what the code says. You'll see some in formal/semi-formal attire. And you'll see others in jean/collared shirt. Your call.

I agree the two are not the same, but they're trying to appease the "I'm on vacation, I'm not dressing up" crowd.

Not sure about Palo Steak house on the Wish however My wife and I eat mostly Palo Brunch on the Fantasy and a couple of dinners there.

I will dress in suite pants, a dress shirt, a tie, a sports coat and dress shoes.
With that said I dress better for Palo then formal night in the main dinning room, I hate to dress up if I don't have to.

I have seen everything from tennis shoes, nice shorts and a polo shirt all the way to the way I dress.

My wife and I were at California grill last night. I was wearing nice jeans, a button down shirt I got on the cruise, dress shoes and a sports coat.
It all depends on how an individual defines formal dress vs resort/vacation casual.

It also depends on how the restaurant enforces dress code. Several years ago I forgot my dress shoes. I went to Palo to enquirer if my new Merrell shoes(hiking boots) would be a problem. At the time I was told no for brunch but yes for dinner, thing may have changed since then.
I was offered if needed, a pair of loaner shoes they kept in a closet in the Meridian bar. I told them we had brunch only and thanked them.

I want to know what "lifestyle shoes" are. Because I know of a certain lifestyle and the shoes they wear lol
I found this online:
Lifestyle shoes follow a similar principle: “lifestyle shoe” is more an umbrella term than a specific kind of shoe—a rectangular category filled with specific shapes like sneakers, ballet flats, and espadrilles.

So, while the definition encompasses a veritable smorgasbord of footwear, each style with its own unique origins and uses, there are two reliable indicators:

  • Lifestyle shoes are not necessarily a performance shoe. That means they are not specifically designed with sports or activities in mind (as opposed to, say, basketball shoes or running shoes).
  • Most lifestyle shoes strike that perfect balance between casual and professional style. You won’t usually find anyone wearing them at black-tie events (although athleisure is on the rise). However, they’re ideal for hopping between your couch, the office, and that hot date.

A lot of different styles can fall into the category of "lifestyle shoes." It seems to be the footwear equivalent of "business casual" which can vary greatly as well. Basically it's casual without being ratty sneakers or beach-y flipflops and unlikely to be your high-performance running/sports/athletic shoe. General everyday sneakers, tennis shoes, athletic style shoes, sandals, boat shoes, casual shoes, etc.

Unless your high performance running shoes are black. Nobody ever seems to check when they see black shoes!

It’s more the fact that people owning such are unlikely to wear it for more casual use. Serious runners are usually more particular about limiting those shoes for running. Not as much that it wouldn’t pass as “lifestyle footwear.”

Nah, I pretty much always wear running shoes for everything. I'm not a runner, but running shoes are very comfortable for me. So, I bought a pair of black ones to wear when I'm not supposed to wear running shoes. Nobody ever questions the black shoes.

They wear all of the above. You'll see the whole range of attire when you dine there. Go with you you prefer and enjoy the meal!

I was at Palo on the Magic on Thanksgiving week. I wore my long sleeve Mickey shirt, Levi's jeans, Mickey Vans shoes and my watch. I felt fancy.

What she said was serious runners - those who race and such. When they are serious they track the mileage from their runs and replace the shoes after a certain number of miles (depends on the shoe and the runner as to what that is but usually between 300 and 500 miles). They *might* use a retired pair for walking around, but NEVER a current pair for walking around - they are exclusively for running. Walking creates a different wear pattern in them.

You said you're not a runner - so you wouldn't fall into the serious runner category. Plenty of non-runners wear running shoes for whatever (like plenty of non-basketball players wear "basketball shoes" or non-tennis players wear "tennis shoes".

Yes, and your second paragraph was my point. I think that you might have missed something in the conversation.

If our last visit to Palo is any indication, you can wear whatever you want. I saw multiple people in flip flops and one guy had a ripped and tatty band t-shirt on. Another had ripped jeans. No joke! I was really surprised they let them in.

Was this for brunch or dinner? I have heard they are a little more lax for the brunch however ripped jeans, flip flops and t shirts were a big no no not that long ago.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before but we went to Palo Dinner one time several years ago (pre-covid), I don't recall the ship, and there was a table that looked like they just came out of a Jersey Shore Nightclub scene on MTV.

They had already begun relaxing enforcement for brunch at that point but to see it at dinner when everyone else was dressed appropriately was kinda off-putting.
