We (daughters 11 and 12) were all set to go to Universal now they want to go to MGM (we only have 1 day for a park). What would you rather do?

I probably shouldn't count because I've only been to US once and MGM tons of times. I was very disappointed with US. Two words-No Magic. It seemed like a regular everyday theme park. (One small thing that I didn't like and isn't important at all: I saw lots of tshirts with off color sayings and curse words on them. I know it's small but it bugged me.) I've never been to IOA so I can't comment on it. But for my money I'm going to MGM. Hope this helps a little.

Well as a Disney finatic I have to say this. Honestly, I'd go to Universal if you were only going to go to MGM. Now if you were doing MGM, Magic Kingdom, or just Magic Kingdom alone even, I'd say go to Disney.

However, Universal is just better than MGM alone. Islands of Adventure is pretty good and you know what? The rides are good, but I found myself bored after a few hours because the lines got so long that you really dont get to do as much as you'd like. I found myself wondering around ready to leave.

I would go to the websites and count how many rides/attractions you would go to in each park and then go to the one that you feel would give you the most. Most of mgm is shows that are played the same every day, every year so if you just saw it you know what is going to happen. Universal mostly all rides. You don't specify which Universal park you would be going to. If it is IOA many thrill rides. One thing someone told me though is that if you only have a one day pass for universal you can't use their fast pass system, where at Disney I believe you can.

IOA has MANY thrill rides, whereas US is just boring (IMHO). MGM would be a better choice for those age groups. There's the Great Movie Ride, the Tower of Terror, Rockin' Roller Coaster, and they are are girls so they would probably enjoy Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Plus, the food is much better.

If your girls are thrill-seekers, then I would definitely recommend USF/IOA over MGM. There's no comparison when you consider the thrills at IOA to those that can be had in MGM. IOA wins hands down with the Dueling Dragons coasters, the Hulk, Spiderman and Jurassic Park. The shows (Poseidon's Fury, The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad) are top of the line.

In USF, there's the new Revenge of the Mummy, Shrek 4-D, Men in Black Alien Attack and Back to the Future. For shows, you've got Terminator 3-D, Beetlejuice's Graveyard Review and Animal Planet LIVE!

If you buy a 2-day pass, you can hop between the two parks easily (they're a short walk apart). The 2nd day never expires, so you could save it for another trip. Ticketmania sells them for $106.

For the cost, I think that I would choose Universal instead.

Yup, I agree. No contest.
