Which is better to make my reservation NOW and add the Free DDP when it becomes available OR wait to make my reservation when the Free DDP is open for reservations?

Additionally, IF I were to make my reservation NOW, can I make my ADR's NOW and when I add the Free DDP I will not loose my ADR's???

I'm getting confused...

Free dining is not guaranteed yet. It is still in the rumor stage.

So...Make your reservations if you want. Cancel them if you want. They will be able to apply a code even after you have made the reservation, but sometimes if they switch too much it becomes a "refund this, re-book that" in which case you need to have enough credit on your cc to make the deposit on the new reservation while you are still waiting on the refund from the first one. (I had this problem 2 years ago!)

You can make reservations now for dinners too. (as long as it is within the 180 day mark) They will not be cancelled if you change the package later. Use your home phone number to make them, not your resort confirmation number.

Thanks, you helped me alot!!! Since it is only March/April and my ressies will be for Aug/Sept, I cannot make ADR's anyway. I will wait for the DDP Announcement to make my ressie.

Actually you can make ADR's 180 days in advance....so roughly six months ahead of time. For a late August trip, you could make ADR's already at the end of February.

As for booking now....I don't think it matters much either way. If you plan on going regardless of free dining being offered, feel free to go ahead and book. If you are going ONLY if free dining is offered, then I'd probably wait.

Just keep in mind if you book your reservation now, there is no guarantee that the promotion will be available for your resort of choice or category. It isn't just that simple to adding a code. There has to be empty rooms at a certain resort in order for that resort to have the promotion there during your dates. Last year my DIL had Pop booked and when she called, there was no availability at Pop for her weeks, so even though she was holding a current reservation, she could not apply the code and had to switch to A/S Music where there was availability for her timeframe. So have a backup plan of where you want to stay so you'll be ready when you make the phone call.
