I thought I read that this resort is about ten dollars more a night than other value...I am getting prices way higher when I do a booking on the wdw website. Can someone clarify? Tks

The little mermaid rooms which are equivalent to other values are only about 10 more. All other rooms are suites and are usually much more because of that.

I hope I understand. Art of Animation is the highest demand resort. And I think many prefer to stay here then other values. And even for the mermaid rooms will be more. What has most likely happen is that Disney has had more bookings then any other value and the rates have jumped to reflect that. This is very common in the industry. Also being July they might also charge more then September.

AoA is an hybrid resort. The Little Mermaid rooms have the same configuration as other value resorts and are priced about the same. The suites (Lion King, Nemo and Cars) are priced in the same range as moderate resorts. Two types of rooms = two price ranges.

Not really correct.
As the other posters have stated, all but the Little Mermaid rooms are suites and therefore are priced more in line with the Moderates and have higher nightly rates.
It really has nothing to do with whether or not the rooms are filled. Disney doesn't price that way.
Disney does have seasonal pricing, but nightly rates are not raised within a season as rooms book.

With the caveat that the least expensive rooms often book first. So as time goes on, the price for the available rooms might be higher since only the more expensive rooms remain. But if comparing apples to apples, i.e. the exact same room type, then no, WDW doesn't raise its prices as rooms book up.

I've always found AoA/LM rooms to be measurably higher in cost than the other values. I just did a search, Oct 1-3, and found LM rooms to go for $160 while Pop/All Stars were running about $135/140. And, there is seldom any kind of discount given on the LM rooms. Why? Doesn't need to be one. There are only 3 bldgs in the LM section, and always pretty close to full. So, no need to discount.
