confused refillable mug user

Last Wednesday I was at Backlot Express at the Studios waiting for my order when I noticed a woman arguing with a CM ~~ The woman had brought (!!) her refillable mug with her from All Stars & wanted it refilled for lunch She insisted to the CM that "they told me I could get it refilled anywhere!".

The CM finally did give the woman a child size drink in a cup and told her she could pour it into the mug ~ of course the woman complained she should have given her the largest size drink!

Our neighbors just got back in June from WDW and they said they were told the same thing...that if you bought the mug you could get it refilled on ANY disney property They had been several times so they knew that it was only for your resort... but if this is your first trip and some CM are giving out wrong info then there will be some upset people. Thank goodness for these boards...now I will know all about WDW when I get there!!

Why didn't the CM give her enough cups for her whole family???(LOL)
It is amazing what people expect, come, on where in any world can you get one cup and have unlimited drinks anywhere, anytime??? I just think that thought is unreasonable. Just my opinon.

I was at SSR this summer and the bartender at the pool sold refillable mugs and told the purchaser that were refillable at all the resorts...

That's amazing to me that a CM (even if they are a newbie) can be so misinformed! Did your neighbors stay at AS also?

We obviously know this is not the policy, but if you are in a food court I am sure it is very easy to get away with that, since the soda machines are unmanned. I see plenty of people with other resort mugs/old designs from years ago, and they use them with no problem.

Almost makes me feel like a sucker for abiding by the rules.

Good point. Sure there are some CMs out there who are uninformed, but I think much of the time, when we hear reports like this, it is a matter of guests hearing only what they want to hear.

Written on the mug?
Just wanted to ask where it is and to swear that on our mugs from 99 and 05 nothing is written on but them I picked them up and found it but only on our 05 Pop Mug, not on the 99`ASMo one

and... it says "from OUR beverage station" so people can complain OUR = Disney?? Perhaps they should make it more clear and write the Resort name on as well

It seems to me that no matter what is written where, or what is said when, by whom or in what way, and even if every CM was a perfect automaton and understood and explained the policy exactly the same way, every time, there would still be -- ahem -- disagreement and confusion.

I kind of feel sorry for the lady. I am planning our 1st trip, and if I had not been studying these boards, that could have been me. After so many refillable mug threads I think I have them figured out

Hey! It could have been a DME driver that told her that. When I went in May our bus driver made a point of telling us to be sure and get a refillable mug. He said 'that for about twelve bucks you can get free refills for the length of your stay anywhere in WDW, including all four parks and the water parks'. I was flabbergasted and waited for someone to correct him, but no one did. The young couple in front of me said 'that sounds like a good deal' and the bus driver said 'yeah, it is'.

I didn't say anything until we were getting off the bus at POP, but when that young couple happened to be just behind me during check-in, I mentioned that the DME driver was wrong. They got sort of huffy with me and said that since he worked for Disney he should know. I didn't say anything else, but would have loved to seen the look on a MK CM's face if they tried to refill a POP mug at MK.

Just bought a new mug at POP last week and the cashiert very clearly told me inly good for this trip, and only refillable here at POP, not at any of the Disney Parks. I looked at her and said "you really have to tell people that now?"

She said - "yeah - every day all day long but no one pays attention."
