Confused re: AP Rates

Hello all!

Although this is my first post, I've been lurking around for a while and want to thank everyone for all of the great information I've been able to pick up. Hope to return the favor some time.

Now my question is this - does anyone have a wild guess as to how many rooms get "blocked off" for an AP rate at a given resort. I just tried to get a reservation for POR for Jan 6-9 and was told it is completely sold out under that rate. Only moderate available is CB - King bed.

Is it just me (being disappointed and frustrated) that I can't get an AP rate, or does it seem weird that even though the AP rate goes out officially tomorrow, there were so many people waiting that everything is gone so quickly?

Does anyone know if Florida resident rates for this time period will be coming out anytime soon? May have to ask the parents to reserve the rooms, since they will be joining us.

Don't give up, call back tomorrow. I really find it hard to believe rooms are sold out for that resort fo rJan. 6. I am about to call for Jan 8 for Pop or POR. We'll see what happens.

I agree, don't give up. Now this is just my opinion, but I think they release rooms gradually. When the fall AP discounts came out, I tried to get a room at CR, but I was told it was sold out. About three weeks later, I was able to get the discount, and even upgraded to a tower room. Just keep checking back, I'm sure you will get something.

asking for a different room catagory. I called this morning and was only able to get 3 of my 6 days in Jan. They were split so I would have had to pay full price for the middle days. I called back a couple of hours later and got the same response, but he said he saw the dates available with a woods view. That was still a savings of $79 per night on those days so I took it. The funny thing was, the reason they gave me for standard not being available was it was a blackout time. Go figure.

The problem may be that that is the Marathon Weekend. marathon runs on Sunday, but people start arriving on Thrusday/Friday. GOOD LUCK!

It's those pesky healthy folk! Tongue in cheek because I am actually registered to walk the 1/2 marathon on the 9th! If you look at the fine print on this discounted rate there are several blocks of dates that are not included...the 7-9th being one of them...another set of dates in January and I think two sets of dates in February that covers some Mardi Gras celebration Disney does and the President's holiday.

The sad news is that I desperately want to walk the marathon..but saving $800 is more appealing to me than a 3 hour stint to prove to myself that I can walk it. Heck....I probably walk 5 marathons the whole week we're there! So check the block out dates and try to plan your trip around it. Although the marathon is busy..the parks are not that crowded at that time...most marathoners do other things on those days than ride rides.

They don't seem to be giving out as many ap rate rooms as they used to. Disney has been giving us the run around for the past year..no rates available..no rates available. So, we book somewhere else. Swan/Dolphin or universal resorts. All are outstanding and have never denied us a discounted rate.

I'm just glad they released the rates so much earlier than last year. Now I can make definite plans for everything else.
