Confused over points

My wife phoned from the UK on Friday to make our first ressie. We have recently joined in Jan 01 at VWL and are planning a trip. We reserved a total ressie of 102 points then MS informed us we still had 342 points left, We are confused as we received 222 points in Jan 01 and our use year is Aug, are they quoting us our points for Aug 01 too. We thought this was strange that we have 2 yr's points available.

If your reservation request is for after Aug 1, you will have received your 2001 points by that time, but you need to make sure they are using the banked 2000 points first. (Hopefully, you have already banked them.)
If your trip is before Aug, you will stil lneed to bank any unused 2000 points.

If your trip is BEFORE Aug, you should check with MS again to see why you have extra points.

Yes the reservation is for Sep2001, so that is why they are quoting 342 points, Here was me thinking I had won the lottery.

If you are not planning any other trips before September, you need to bank all your points into next year right away.

If you have already done that, nevermind...

We returned the form, but they did not action it, so when we phoned the points had still not been banked. Lucky we phoned.

I'm sure that they used your banked points first for your reservation, but you might want to check and make 100% sure.

I would suggest anytime you make a reservation you ask the DVC representative what use year he/she is deducting the points from for your current reservation. This will allow you to keep track of your points with less confusion. You should be careful with your banked points. I believe they must be used in the use year you bank them into so you'll want to make sure they get used up before the regular points you acquire in a use year. Also be very aware of the deadlines for banking your points. Good luck.
