Confused on Renting!

Since '08 when I started researching WDW , from what I recall, there has been the ticket purchase requirement. Used to be a one day ticket, now it's a two day I believe.

Op aren't you over the limit for a mod anyway? Might as well run numbers and look at renting!

Well, when I do a package thing online at WDW it shows Caribbean Beach for my family at the cheapest rate. We are a technically a family of 6 BUT... when we go we will be considered an adult family of 5 PLUS a 2 year old. They don't count her yet really. That's why I wonder if it would be cheaper to do a mod with a roll-away (if they will). She just won't be able to sleep with us nor will she sleep in their pack n play unless it's a real crib size.

This is true but they didn't use to require park hopper, which was my point.

She asked if renting was cheaper, not whether or not it was the cheapest. If she wanted cheapest I'd point her to a value family suite or an offsite condo, but when comparing rack rate these days even with a discount renting still tends to be cheaper.

I see.... The only value suite it would show me is at AOA and it's still more expensive than the CBR. I would love to stay at AOA and that may be where we go but it looks to be $600 more than CBR.

For space & comfortable sleeping, a DVC rental does look cheaper. Money wise..... CBR seems to be best rate wise, I just don't like the crowded sleeping we would have. Hmmmmmm... decisions decisions! agh!!!!!!! I don't know what's best for us! I don't know what we need. More room or cheaper so I have more money to spend in the parks! ha :sad2:

DVC will not provide a roll-away bed. You'll need to bring your own air mattress.

What about for CBR (not DVC rental)? ^^

OP have you considered two connecting studios? Or a 1 bedroom and a studio?

I'm trying to consider everything. This vacation is so important and much needed for my family. However, I didn't think of that.

I want this experience as a bonding moment for my family. It's kind of at a time in our lil' family that we need this. My fear is that we get 2 rooms and they are not connected. Then that separates us and since we are a newly "blended" family, separation IS SOOOOOOO NOT what we need. Trying to get my DD's and my new DD stronger as siblings. They are surprisingly but..... there are still some issues.

Then that wouldn't be renting, and wouldn't be DVC. Yes, the hotels can provide a roll-away; I'm not sure if, or how much, they charge.
But if they already have the murphy bed in the room, there won't be any room for a rollaway, even if they would provide one. The OP may need to bring her own toddler bed, like an air bed on the floor.

I'm not going to pry into your personal situation but I'm sensing some red flags here. You have competing issues of price and sleeping arrangements. Even for the moderates that will sleep 5 (and allow the one 2 y/o not to count), you'll be falling all over each other. IMO a 1 BR with 2 baths is likely the minimum reasonable and a 2 BR would be better, esp since it seems there's so much riding on the outcome of this trip. I'd not go right now rather than having the amount of stress this is creating if these compromises are going to cause a problem.

OH GOODNESS NO! haha It's not THAT dramatic. LOL I just want the bond to be real. I know it doesn't make sense. Nothing's riding on the outcome of the trip. I just want the trip to be bonding moments with the most magic possible on our budget. We live in a little house with all of us... If we can do that we can stay in a crowded little room. --- Wait!! Did I just answer my own question? hahahaha I think I did!

Thank you! Crowded room, save more money for souvenirs!!! Yay!

Renting is the way to go. We have done it a few times. There are at least three or four of them out there. (Forum rules don't allow posting direct links to them.)

To your original question at the top of this post string - yes, you get all the benefits, FP+, ADR, Disney Dining although the DVC Owner whose points yo are renting need stop make that purchase on you behalf. For what it is worth, we have found Disney Dining makes little sense for us when we have a DVC villa with kitchen. You'd be surprised how much can be saved (time and money) by grabbing a few random breakfast and lunches in your own villa!

I'll check out those places. Thank you! I cannot believe how hard this is for me to choose. lol. crazy!

I'm assuming you want to stay on property but with the size of your family maybe you should consider Bonnet Creek, more room and cheaper. Though no MDE or disney buses so you'd have to rent a car.

Great, I was starting to get nervous you were setting yourself up. Having a room like a clown car is not my idea of vacation but everyone is different in this regard. As long as you're within occupancy, the choice is yours.

haha. No setting myself up. Just a new family wanting to spend magical time together so I was wanting it to be perfect.... I think I am over thinking and over perfecting again (I tend to do that. lol).... Clown car atmosphere doesn't sound appealing does it? I have no idea what I'm doing! I guess I will actually ask my family and see what they think. I wanted to set the whole thing up and surprise them but I think they may have to have their input also. I kind of mentioned it to them and they were good with cramped space but of course a more spacious room would be pleased. They are just excited to go. That's when I went into a panic mode of affordability and comfort. lol

we shall see...

You'll have to decide what makes the trip magical for you and what the budget is. Is it space, location, the ability to get in and out during the day or comando park access. For us it's space and car access. I've got to believe that a 2 BR is a major plus in that direction and not dramatically more than a direct moderate room that will accommodate the party. Please let us know back what you decide and how it goes.
