confused on military pricing

I am confused about the pricing of cruises with the military discount. For example; this came up on the Disney cruise line blog as a military discount for a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral, 5C @ 174.00. Does that mean a level 5C stateroom at 174.00 per night? Help!

That would be the rate per person per night in the cabin for the first two travelers, so about $2400 for the week for two adults. Additional travelers in the same cabin would be less. Port charges would be additional. Check on the Disney cruise page, for a complete quote for your party.

PP is correct. If you go to DCL's website, you can follow the links for the MTO rate and go through the booking motions to get a total cost. Military members are only allowed one room now FYI (it used to be three).

Military can get more than 1 room IF their immediate family is too large for the room category available, as long as the spouse is listed in the 2nd room. We just did this in April. All that was available was 11C but there are 5 of us. So we did 2 rooms and the discount applied to both rooms.

Military spouses are eligible for the military discount without the sponsor so a couple can always book 2 rooms at the military rate. One room in the sponsor's name, the other in the spouse's name. You don't need a larger family to book two rooms. Our family of four booked two category 8B rooms last time.

You don't have to be a spouse to get the 2nd room either though. If your child is an adult they qualify for the 2nd room so long as the military member and/or spouse are going on the same cruise. They have to be immediate family though. So great Aunt Edna can't get the 2nd room under the military discount, but the adult child could. My point was to the previous poster that said you could only get one room now, that's not actually the case. Technically, if you have 15 children, you could get as many rooms that you need, so long as an adult is in each room and those adults are immediate family members.

This has not been my personal experience. We travel with my parents, who both have military IDs. I, the adult child, am not eligible for the second room. We have always been told that someone with a military ID has to be in the room. So both my parents can get a room, but I cannot even though I'm traveling with them. I hope this makes sense. :) Now, if it's a family with four children, then I'm sure that's the case.

I just spoke with CMs regarding this in April. They said if they are adult children (not married and having children of their own) and other child siblings of the Military member, then they can get another room. For example, Mom and Dad and 15 kids. They would need 4 rooms. Now, let's say they have 2 adult children, those adult children can have the room with younger siblings. The family would then get 4 rooms under the military discount as they are all immediate family. Now lets say one of the adult children is married with children. They are no longer eligible to receive that discount as the spouse and children are not immediate family (plus they are no longer considered a dependent). You are not eligible because you would be traveling with a spouse and your own children. They do cut off at a certain point. Basically, when the adult "child" is not living with and using the same address or considered a dependent anymore. The catch is the military ID. An adult child needing a 3rd, 4th, etc. room has to have an ID, in the military you can get a military ID up until 23 years old. In your case, you are older than 23 and no longer have a military ID.
