Hello! I tried searching any thread that contained information about Marriott Grande Vista. After reading 20+ different threads I'm still confused! :confused3

Some have said that timeshare owners get top priority in getting the refurbished villas, and some say you still have to request it no matter what.

Can anyone clarify this for me? Have any other II owners stayed at Grande Vista recently? It's hard to determine who are timeshare owners and who are just renting out rooms when I read the threads...

Any help is greatly appreciated. THANKS!

SDRocKGirL I need info on Grand Vista too!! We plan on staying there through my parents timeshare (traded a week in Charleston for it) and would like to know how to make sure we get a refurbished room also! Our trip isn't until April, if I find out soon I'll let you know!
Heard great things about the place though.......maybe others have more info!

I would hope that MGV would now let exchangers get the nice villas.

but when I went they weren't.

the owners of Marriott - so if you own a Marriott you will get a rehab unit.

otherwise I requested when I arrived.

I didn't think to request before hand - because at this Marriott we had always gotten a great room. this last time it was pretty bad!!!.

so bad I haven't been back. that was last year and hopefully they have complete the rehab.

be sure to sign up EARLY for the wine tasting. I learned alot here!!!! It was pretty nice for $5 a person!

Thanks for the help spiceycat, I actually called yesterday to request a new or renovated villa.. when did you last go if you don't mind me asking, and how BAD is BAD?

the room at studio wasn't too bad. It definitely needed some work. the cabinets did not open properly. the sheets were clean.

but it was okay. I have heard other complaint loudly about the stained on everything. broken stuff.

what I hated was the outside halls. Disney does an excellent job of kepting these things clean. Marriott hadn't cleaned this one in who knows when. It was just bad and the elevators - oh it smelled... anyway since kids don't bother to wash off before going into the swimming pool - guess what the pool was pretty bad.

the hot tub was not working and Marriott kept saying when anyone complainted these units will be rehab. Great for the future but what about NOW.

On one day I got an excellent rate at Pop and we went over there. It was the first time that we tried it (I had earlier). Mother expected to hate it - surprise she hated to leave and go back to the Marriott. Everything was so clean at Disney in comparision to the Marriott.

I couldn't get her out of the Disney pool!

definitely bring some shoes to wear outside at all times!!! you even need pool shoes!!!

the main pool was in great shape. It was also crowded.

We stayed at MGV from July 15 to 22, 05 on an exchange. We got there early (around 11:30 a.m. due to flights), so of course, our room wasn't ready. I had requested about 4 months prior for a new/ refurbished unit. They were going to put us in Building 93 (an older unit). I asked if anything was available, and lo and behold, a NEW unit in building 85 was ready. They gave us that room.

However, our child was injured at the indoor playground, and that, coupled with Marriott's response, made us think twice about staying there again. Our daughter was ok, but still .... if you use that facility, stay with your kids and watch everyone else's kid also. Our daughter was run over and choked with me 2 feet from her and in full view on the outside of the structure. Other parents don't seem to think their children need to follow rules of decent behavior. Anyway ...

It is possible to get a new room if you're lucky, and I would guess it would depend on how busy the resort is.

we've stayed there twice and have only had good experiences. We had an older room the first time and we thought it was fine...the next time we had a refurb and it was great. I wouldn't have been disappointed had we not had a refurb room.

we also loved the play area

My parents are Marriott owners in West Palm and they traded through II to get us into Grande Vista last October. They went through II because initially we tried for DVC, but didn't get it. Anyway, we had a 2 bedroom lockoff in a brand new building on the first floor (which I highly recommend). My dad put in the request prior to us leaving. I don't remember which building we stayed in, but our unit was beautiful. It was so spacious. Being on the first floor was great and we never heard the people above us.

Staying at MGV was the deciding factor on us buying into DVC during that trip. After having that much room with the kids we realized that we didn't want to stay in a regular hotel room anymore when we went to WDW.

We didn't experience any problems at the indoor play area, thank goodness. However, the big kids do tend to overrun the little ones. It drives the parents who stay and watch their kids (me) nuts!

Last time I was there (it was an II getaway, not an exchange), I simply asked for a refubished room at check-in, and got it. Since then at least one more building has been completed
