OK. Got my Disney VISA. Used it for all my holiday purchases. Earned 'points'...now what?!? I am utterly confused as the site is very vague as to what you get with the amount of points you have. I know that you need to 'transfer' the points to disney dream rewards or whatever they are, but where can you find out what you can get for the amount of points you have. Someone, anyone...help! :confused3

If you are online, there is a rewards highlight to click on. There you will see the amount of rewards earned. It is dollar for dollar, and you can request to get your rewards cashed in at anytime. They will send you a plastic 'credit card' type of card with the amount you earned. You can use it just like cash at the parks, etc. We typically don't cash in until close to when we are going. I believe that once you have the card, they can transfer points later on, as they get earned, right online or over the phone, so you don't have to wait to get a new card, as that can take a few weeks sometimes. We have about $300 to take on our card when we go in Feb, to put toward food and disney souvies. Not great return at 1%, but it really is found money!

OK. So let's say I earned 10 points so far. Does that mean I have $10 to spend? So for every point I earn it equals $1? That is I guess my main question. I agree with not cashing in till you go! It is just like found money :sunny:

yup- 10 points is 10 bucks. it really adds up over time, although I know that discover and some other programs can earn you more.

 I got my card at guest services in Downtown Disney this past week. They give you the card. All you have to do is call the 800# and tell them how much you want to transfer. There is a courtasy phone you can use. Took about 5 min.

Awesome! Thanks for all the help! There is no reason not to use the card to make purchases...it sure does add up! And you can use it for ANYTHING?!? Like what if I wanted to use it for food? Can you use it at CS restaurants too or just FS? Does anyone know how they figure the points out? I know, so many questions... :earsgirl:

Erica, we use our card for everything we can! Purchases, repairs, our disney tix, even with ebay, as we use paypal and have our disney visa as the pay source. We buy our groceries, and even pay for oil, and other utilities with a direct pay with it. Unfortunately disney had a great deal about a year and a half ago for really low % on balance transfer or new purchase until loan was paid off and we splurged and bought a new boat and therefore could not use our disney visa for about 18 months or we would have had alot more than 300 points. We plan to go to WDW every other year, although we are going in feb 06 and jan 07 for this next period, so typically 2 years will allow us to save quite a few points. :Pinkbounc

$100 equals one point. It may take a couple of weeks to get your card so don't wait too long before you go. I have $600 on mine and that will be enough for breakfasts and souviners for 7 people plus I should have some left. My trip is paid for. They do expire in one year I think so don't loose any money that you have left on it. Spend it!!! I may plan a Halloween trip and just save mine until then and use it by charging things to my room and using my rewards card to pay for it when I check out. That's a good way to get around places that won't take your rewards card like non disney places like at DTD.

Do you have to use the reward dollars in the parks or can you use them at the Disney Store or their online store? I don't think we will be going back to WDW anytime soon, but I do visit the store occasionally, or I would buy a dvd online. I also tried to look online for that information and found it rather hard to find. It sure was easy to apply for the card though! :rotfl:

Yes you can use them at Disney Stores, through the catalog and online.

To clarify: points expire in a year AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED to the Rewards card. When they have simply accumulated in your account, they do not expire for five years. Therefore, wait to transfer points to the card until you are ready to spend them within a year. But, as DW mouser says, transfer a few weeks ahead so that there is time for you to receive the card.

also that way we can all have some to use!! Though we may be switching to a better reward plan soon....

What is the website to set up my account online? I got my card and now I need to get it set up online and can't find the paper that had the website. Thanks!

I looked at the website last night and there is no longer a link for movie screenings. It used to say there were no screenings at the moment, check back another time, but now it's completely gone. I hope they didn't end this perk. I never got to use it!

Double check on the expiration date when you order your rewards card, the last time I transferred mine (2003) the rewards card expired on 12/31 of that year, not one year from the transfer.
